In reply, Ishan Kishan made a 39-ball 59 and added 90 with Rohit Sharma (37) but once they departed, MI could only manage 172 for 5 in the end. Earlier, LSG were 35 for 3 in 6.1 overs but Stoinis and Krunal Pandya (49) lifted the team to 117 for 3 with a 82-run fourth wicket stand, which remained unfinished after the skipper retired hurt after hobbling to a single.
Jason Behrendorff (2/30) and Piyush Chawla (1/26) were among the wickets. For LSG, Ravi Bishnoi (2/26) and Yash Thakur (2/40) took two wickets each.

Sandip G: Mohsin Khan gestured to captain Krunal Pandya that he is calm, as he stood at the top of his run-up, tossing the ball. Sweat dripped over his face, the eyes were anxious, the face wore a sombre expression. But nervous he was not. Needing to defend 10 runs for a win, he slid an off-cutter first ball to Cameron Green. He shoved the ball straight back at him. A length ball followed, and he had to thank Green’s ricketiness for it not sailing over the ropes. But the single brought Tim David, and here was Mohsin’s big test. He stood up to the challenge. David’s hitting zone is the leg-side and so he bowled a full ball, slanting away outside the off-stump. David could manage just a single and was off the strike. Pandya would again tell him to be calm. Khan would nod his head. He slipped in the perfect yorker. A dot ball. Another yorker follows, which Green squirts for a single. A victory assured, Khan roared in delight. But Krunal was wary, and told him to not overstep, end up conceding a no-ball, a free-hit, and probably the match. Khan did not. He kept his calm, floated in a slower ball and let all that pent-up nerves explode into manic celebrations.
What a brilliant final over it has turned out to be from Moshin Khan. Defending 11 runs of the over he bowled a brilliant one. He was spot on with his yorkers and slower ones in the final over. One must sorry feel sorry for Cameron Green as it is not his game to get teams over the line in these situations as he is more of a top-order batter. Tim David did tried his level best but it has been excellent death bowling from LSG. After a brilliant start from Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma Mumbai MI just kept losing their way and eventually lost the game. Top class bowling effort this from LSG. They now go into 3rd place.

Sandip G: Yash Thakur ran like a man possessed, without any direction. He then pulled out a Dale Steyn-like chainsaw celebration, and punched the air in joy. So joyous that Quinton de Kock and Krunal Pandya had to calm him down. Then he had just dismissed Suryakumar Yadav, the most prized wicket in the T20 galaxy, playing his bread and butter scoop shot. Thakur spotted Yadav’s intentions and bowled a slower ball outside the off-stump. The slowness of the strip further decelerated the journey of the ball, and for once Yadav was early into the shot. He tried to delay his shot, but could only inside-edge the ball onto the stumps. He lost his balance and lay disconsolate on the ground, even as Thakur teared away, his joy pouring without direction.

Credit must be given to LSG the way they have been in believing in themselves. They have pulled back this game nicely and now the momentum is completely with them. The skipper has brought himself back into attack here. It is this phase against SRH where he turned the game with his spin and guile. Things have slowed down a bit in the last few overs for Mumbai. Sandip G: In the fifth over, Naveen-ul-Haq posted a deep-square leg for Rohit Sharma. It was a supposed ruse, set him up for the pull and fox him with a full ball. But how many times Sharma has seen through such ploys. He knew what was coming, shuffled across, crouched and on bent knees whipped him towards the right of the deep square. It was an unusual Sharma stroke. Usually, he employs the regular flick, often along the ground and rarely in the air. Here, he was almost impersonating Suryakumar Yadav, sans the bottom-hand accentuated snaps of the wrists. Nonetheless, it made for a gorgeous watch. He made a complicated stroke look easy on the eyes. The imperceptible shuffle across, the rapid switch to one knee and the measured movements of his hands to get the ball up and over. And how he bluffed the double-bluff, and almost sadistically hit past the catcher who was supposed to be his terminator.
This has been an excellent opening partnership for Mumbai Indians. They continue to go after the bowling after the powerplay. The wicket is not turning as much as it did in the first innings and looks like things have got better to bat now. After 7.3 over Mumbai Indians 70/0
MI has started well in the Powerplay here. This is a fabulous start for Mumbai chasing a massive total. If they can keep going this for a bit long LSG might start to get concerned here. LSG has used only one over of spin so far in the Powerplay. The rest have been seamers. The fast-bowlers tried to use a few cutters but Mumbai batters have been up to the task. Moshin has not started well here. He drifted a few down the leg-side which were punished for a boundary. Marcus Stoins has played a match-winning inning here. Chasing those many runs on this wicket unless Dew comes into play seems highly unlikely. Rohit Sharma's decision to bowl first at the half-stage has backfired completely here. Their spinners Piyush Chawla and Shokeen have been nullified by Stoinis' brute strength. Unless something dramatic happens and someone from Mumbai Indians plays a similar innings to Stoinis it looks like an impossible task and seems like LSG's game.
Sandip G: Marcus Stoinis took the referral more in hope than conviction. The reversing-swinging yorker from Akash Madhwal—viciously bending in, swinging in the air and seaming off the pitch—had struck him on the back-heel as the Australian tried to jam the ball to safety and missed it altogether. Stoinis’s partner Nicholas Pooran too was confident about the review, but in the end Stoinis sought the review because he was Lucknow’s most precious batsman, and well set too. As it turned out, the movement off the surface worked in the favour of Stoinis, as the tracker showed it was missing the leg-stump. Sroinis was pleasantly bemused, as were Rohit Sharma and Madhwal. Pandya has hobbled off the field it is difficult to know at the moment if is it a tactical decision or if he is injured. However, despite Pooran and Stoinis batting at either end, Madhawal bowled an excellent over here. It is also interesting that Mumbai Indians have not used the full quota of their spin overs. This has been a very important partnership between Stoinis and Pandya. Mumbai is letting this drift game away at the moment. If there won't be any dew in the second innings it will be difficult for Mumbai whatever LSG posts from here on. They have bowlers who are suitable for these conditions as well. Sandip G: Piyush Chawla’s eyes might have lit up at the sight of the pitch in Lucknow, the spin-friendliest of this IPL. He made his first tryst with the surface memorable by producing a sumptuous googly. The ball drifted into the left-handed Quinton de Kock as the ball left his wrists before it landed and spun away viciously. De Kock, admirably, judged the drift and flight sharply and his front-foot stride was emphatic enough to reach the pitch of the ball. But he didn’t gauge for the extra degree of turn. Chawla is usually not a prodigious turner of the ball, but this one spun and kissed the outside edge of De Kock’s bat. It did not burst past him, but floated by him. He could have been saved had he not reached the pitch of the ball. But therein lies the mastery of Chawla, this one was a bit too fuller than his standard deliveries, and hence drew the South African fully into the stroke. After 9 overs Lucknow Super Giants 63/3
Stoinis is continuing his good form from the last game. He smashed a brilliant six through the cover corner. Krunal Pandya at the moment is looking to anchor this innings. There was a puff of dust which came out after the ball was pitched on the surface. It is difficult to predict what a good score on this surface is at the moment. On a surface which is on the slower side de Cock is looking in good touch. He has hit a couple of brilliant-looking sixes. LSG needs to build a partnership here and take the game deep as possible. Sandip G: Tim David did all the hard work of sprinting 30 metres sideways and getting under the skier that skewed off Deepak Hooda’s bat. But he could cling onto the catch, as he misjudged the plunge of the ball, lost a bit of balance, and let it slip through his palms and onto his chin. It hurt him, as he kept stroking his chin for some more time. But he was more haunted by the drop, and rued not going for the reverse-cup technique. But the next time he got under a steepler, he ensured that he went with the reverse-cup and cleanly clung on to the catch. The left-arm bowler contiunes his good form. Excellent piece of bowling from him. He first deceives Deepak Hooda with a slower one and then follows it with a seam-up delivery which the last game's hero Mankad Knicks trying to flash outside off-stump. Good start from the Aussie quick he stuck to his lines and lengths. There was not much of a moment on offer from the surface as expected. However, one side of the boundary is extremely longer than the other and teams might be looking to keep the left-hand right-hand combination through out the batting order. There is a lot to be played for here today in Lucknow. However, the eternal question of how will this surface play. It is a brave call by Rohit Sharma to bowl first we have to wait and see if the decision was based on dew or if he took it to compensate for the shortcomings in the bowling. Whatever may be the case it is a huge gamble how the surface has played so far in the season. Krunal Pandya was more than happy with the decision only time will tell who is right.

I look forward to the IPL every year, and it hasn't let us down with the crowd coming back. It is tough at our home ground, especially for batting. While bowling we keep it simple, use the wicket and roll the fingers on the ball. We are trying to adapt and coming up with game plans. Having Pooran in the side has given me a lot more freedom to move up the order. I am enjoying the responsibility. Nicky is a special talent, he is a free spirit, he has been brilliant. It's nice to see him play so well. They (MI) have been playing well at the Wankhede and they have some strong boys (in the team) - but these conditions are different. Whoever adapts to the conditions better, will come out on top.

It's a good toss to lose. We would have batted first as well. Every game in IPL is important and there are quite a few changes. Naveen and Deepak Hooda in, Kyle Mayers and Avesh Khan out. There is one more change as well, can't quite remember it. Everyone is fit and raring to go.
We are gonna bowl first. We know what to expect from the pitch, looks like a good track but not sure how it is gonna play, so better to have a score in front of us. We are up for the challenge. Even the seamers here have been quite effective here, so we got 4 seamers and 2 spinners. Every game is important and anyone can beat anyone on a particular day. We made one change. We have an offie coming in for the left-arm spinner.

One side it is 75 metres and the other side it is 61 metres. Straight it is 78 metres. Longest boundary from the pavilion end is the long-off boundary which is 81 metres. It is the red soil pitch which means more pace and bounce. There is little bit of grass, but not too much. It is gonna be low and slow. The dew is also unpredictable. Generally there hasn't been too much of dew here.
