When a pizza delivery driver is shot down in South London, Detective Inspector Kip Glaspie, played by "Great Gatsby" star Carey Mulligan, is left in charge of the investigation and refuses to accept the murder as just a random act of violence. As she investigates, she soon finds herself being drawn into the darker side of underworld London. At the same time, politician David Mars, played by John Simm, becomes embroiled in the events due to his rocky relationship with his unpredictable ex, Karen, and a vicar struggles to conceal her affair with the only witness to the shooting. Disparate worlds collide and become entangled as the investigation develops. Read More Read Less

      Critics Consensus

Collateral's social commentary is sometimes overbearing, but strong performances cut through an overcrowded script to suggest that good intentions can count for something.

Michael Hogan Daily Telegraph (UK) For all its faults, Collateral remained gripping to the end. Apr 9, 2019 Full Review Patrick Smith Daily Telegraph (UK) With a set-up this tantalising, what a shame it would be if Collateral's script doesn't settle down. Rated: 3/5 Apr 9, 2019 Full Review John Doyle Globe and Mail Collateral [is] a superb four-part-thriller... that deftly tackles politics, immigration issues and murky espionage as well as the central crime. Apr 11, 2018 Full Review Alix Turner Ready Steady Cut A four-part police procedural series, which uses interweaving subplots to present a picture of modern British society. Rated: 3.5/5 May 10, 2021 Full Review David Walsh World Socialist Web Site Hare is on to something important here: the contamination of British (and, of course, even more so, American) society by the new round of neo-colonial wars. Feb 11, 2021 Full Review Keith Watson Metro Newspaper (UK) I really, really hope that, down the line, the plot demands she vault over a five-metre wall to bag the baddie. That would get the full five stars. Rated: 4/5 May 20, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

NL W Excellent !. Great acting and dialogue and a pacy production. Complex plot spread over only 4 episodes. Perhaps a little "preachy" but that is small criticism. Recommended. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/06/23 Full Review Gareth v As much a social commentary as it is a crime/murder drama, this show is elevated by the performances of it's lead actors, particularly Carey Mulligan. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/24/23 Full Review Mister R I am a big fan of Nicola Walker. I think this is about the only show I've seen with her that I didn't care for. I am so sick of having a certain native shoved in my face. If it had any good quality to it that's one thing. This is just thrown at you with no good quality. This is becoming the norm and it's really sad. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Lee C Another poorly thought out drama with far too many "political" undertones. The story is full of holes (like you witness a murder and the police don't even check your that name and address is correct) and the acting is far from convincing, which to say the cast it has is probably the biggest disappointment! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Ron G Nothing innovative or new here. Just another woke police drama built around promoting women over men and the LGBTQ agenda - all while portraying Christianity in its worst light and seeking to garner sympathy for Muslims. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Brilliant!!! SO enjoyable!!!! It's a must watch from me! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
