Casablanca is increasingly gaining momentum to host the 2030 World Cup final instead of Madrid, Spanish news outlet Marce reported.
The current turmoil within the Spanish Football Federation has weakened Spain’s position, Marca said, while Morocco is actively pushing for the Grand Casablanca Stadium to be the venue.
FIFA was reportedly banking on Spain to be the focal point of the 2030 World Cup, but the issues plaguing the Spanish Football Federation are impacting the country’s chances.
The same source noted that Gianni Infantino’s recent visit to Morocco for the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations saw authorities advancing discussions toward this goal.
“Morocco is being an incredible host for various tournaments, including the futsal AFCON, and I am already looking forward to what 2030 will bring,” Infantino said upon arriving in the Kingdom.
