Senn High School is an amazing school for the arts that provides students with a broad but thorough teaching of each discipline and pushes for students to do well. Being in the theatre program specifically, I can attest to how much better I feel about my acting than when I came into the school. So much so, that I was cast in a professional theatre show as the lead. Senn has amazing performance opportunities for anyone who goes there and is a prosperous school where arts flourish.
Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about other aspects of the school. Having recently had two shootings (outside of school) in back-to-back months that resulted in two student deaths, I do not feel safe when I am entering or exiting the building. I also don't find that Senn's academics are supplying me with a challenging enough education. Most students have below-average GPA's or SAT scores, and those who are above average in that sense don't feel challenged enough or supported enough.

The best part of my experience is the teachers and class dynamics. Every teacher at this school is amazing and genuinely cares about their students and seeing them succeed. The worst part of my experience is the administration, who don’t seem to care much about the students and their experience in the school. However, the teachers make up for that.
The school is not bad overall. There is an IB department, along with music, art, theater, and even health occupation programs. However, I feel that the environment is not the best. It almost feels as though kids do not wish to be there at all and those that show up simply do so to mess around. There are some great staff members, but the administration is not the best. It does not feel like they even like the students and I get the impression that we are no more than a cash grab for them. I would like to see more student involvement along with more facilities. Our library hasn't even been in use for years and the "old gym" needs to be cleaned and remodeled.
