With family ties to the area, Haywood is determined to deploy creative methods to protect her beloved community with the help of her officers and detectives. But first, she has the daunting task of getting them on board, as some are skeptical of her promotion, and others resist the changes she is desperate to make. Brian Lowry CNN.com Feeling very much like NYPD Blue in its texture and jittery camerawork (which was groundbreaking then and not so much now), East New York reflects a laudable desire to present “the job” in all its complexity. Oct 3, 2022 Full Review Angie Han Hollywood Reporter A solid cop procedural that tries, with limited success, to brave thorny territory. Oct 3, 2022 Full Review Daniel D'Addario Variety East New York is relatively careful in its presentation of cops and policing as flawed tools in need of rethinking, and boasts a charismatic lead who can make you believe, for an hour of primetime, that such change might be possible. Sep 29, 2022 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba Aspirational police dramas are the most insidious kind of copaganda. They offer an alternate television reality where the cops actually want to be better, do better police work, and implement new strategies. There’s no basis in reality for this. Oct 13, 2022 Full Review Joel Keller Decider A mess that displays some of the worst habits of CBS procedurals. But with lots of talent on both sides of the camera, and a neighborhood that’s rife with true-life story potential, the show can become a solid, Blue Bloods-style staple for the network. Oct 4, 2022 Full Review Jack Ori TV Fanatic East New York was different enough from the many other cop shows out there to be compelling, had a good balance of crime drama and political concerns, and featured a diverse cast of cops and community members. Well done! Rated: 4.5/5 Oct 3, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Sara S Best show on CBS!! Excellent acting and storylines!!! Regina is the BOMB!!!! 🔥 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/05/23 Full Review Michelle H My husband and I absolutely enjoyed this show. We can't believe it got canceled after season 1. The storylines and characters were so fresh, and very interesting. We also enjoyed the actors, many of whom we never saw before. Please bring this one back! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/11/23 Full Review Marianna K It's an absolute tragedy this wasn't renewed for a second season... it is the kind of show that could run and run. It's great how the characters develop and also how marginalised groups such as the neurodiverse are showcased in an incidental way, without it being rammed down your throat. This is really rare. The policing issues are interesting and explored in a nuanced and developing way across the 21 episodes. I think it really benefited from the 21 episode run as opposed to being 8 or 10. I'm devastated this is the end. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/21/23 Full Review alexander l queremos ver mas temporadas de esta gran serie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/06/23 Full Review P C Amazing show, stellar cast!!! What a shame no season 2 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/05/23 Full Review Dave F Even though there are many police procedural dramas on network tv and elsewhere, ENY is fresh, with a great cast and plot lines. The integration of the PD into the neighborhood is definitely good to see. Jimmy Smitts is great as always, and Amanda Warren is perfect in her role, with supporting cast who work together so well. I hope this show gets a new life somewhere down the road. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
