I hope and guess «Deliverance» will soon be re released like «Damnation».
This Deliverance version sound like a bad acid trip. Don’t feed the the scalpers, wait for the new remastered version. You can allready get Damnation for a nice price. referencing Deliverance & Damnation (2×LP, Album, Remix 180g, LP, Album, Remix 180g, All Media, Compilation) 88875094281
Damnation is fantastic. The remix is subtle but noticeable and it’s the definitive pressing. On the other hand, Bruce Soord should never remix anything ever again. Deliverance sounds liken absolute shit.referencing Deliverance & Damnation (2×LP, Album, Remix 180g, LP, Album, Remix 180g, All Media, Compilation) 88875094281
I love them all, but this is my favorite Opeth album. Deliverance and Damnation were released separately even though the band's initial intention was to release them as a unit. Now they are and the the total package is a stunning display of the band's diversity, musicianship and quality of songs. The sound of the recording/remaster is great, but the LP set isn't as silent as I would have hoped and that's my only minor problem with this awesome sibling reissue.referencing Deliverance & Damnation (2×LP, Album, Remix 180g, LP, Album, Remix 180g, All Media, Compilation) 88875094281
Damnation and deliverance sides a-c sound great on my setup but they crammed way too much on side D. 25 minutes worth of music while Deliverance and Wreath had entire sides to themselves.- Just reaching out to the other 2 people who own this test pressing. Does anyone know how many copies of this exist? CanI assume 5-7?
Thanks

Im glad i bought this at retail and moved it on for many times its price yrs later without the intention to flip because the 4 disc CD/DVD edition royally trounces this set. Well, the DVD hi res stereo played simultaneously as the LPs does at least. The regular CDs are similar to the vinyls albeit with less background noise. People rightly criticize the Deliverance disc/remix.... yep its really poor, on both Lp and CD. However, place the Dvd of Deliverance in and compare and BOOM it sounds totally different and quite brilliant with it. Why the mastering is so different i cant understand! To think some poor folks are prepared to spend over £50 on the record set let alone the £200+ we can see has been spent on a copy of this..... talk about pulling yer own pants down in public!!!
Sell it, buy the 4 discs with Dvd and thank me later!- Comparing the vinyl set to this and its very much an easy win for this set and thats before we get to the price. Listening to both the hi res stereo portions of the two DVDs.... well, out of utter blackness and deadly silence comes a depth of sound rarely heard in the digital domain. It sounds like top notch analogue without the background noise. The CDs are not mastered anywhere near as well as the DVDs but arent terrible while they more closely resemble the vinyls... rheir sound is comparitively unrefined, much flatter and less dimensional... the instuments dont have any real definition. Why people are paying over £200 for the inferior vinyl rendition of this set beats me because this smashes it to smithereens and then some. I wouldnt recommend buying it (it wont come cheap now) for just the CDs though.
Tested on my pc feeding audio to an Audiolab M-Dac+ into Unison S8 integrated into Tannoy Kensington GR loudpseakers.

Long time without spinning Deliverance from this set, now I remember why, the remaster is awful, it has too much bass and at the same time too much treble, the thing is that the treble is on the hi-hat mostly, but not on the guitars, so if you try to EQ-it by adding treble to open the sound of the guitars, the hi-hat goes way over the top, and removing bass would still leave the guitars buried under the hi-hat. In the end, I could do only average improvements in the sound by actually putting -3 bass and -1 treble on my system (I don't have an option for mids in the EQ), this way I could accentuate the middle range somehow, weird, but at least now I can actually listen to this and enjoy a bit. I really hope Deliverance gets its own reissue with a new remaster cause what was done to it here is a crime. Damnation sounds stellar. - Edited 3 years ago

Bit the bullet and bought this off eBay. Damnation sounds absolutely perfect. Deliverance’s mix, on the other hand, is off. The bass is too high in the mix, so it sounds muddy, and the cymbals are too loud. This is incredibly nerdy, but upon ripping the vinyl using Audacity, I was able to make some audio adjustments and it sounds fantastic to my ear. But as a whole, if you love Damnation as much as I do, this set is with the money just for that album alone. referencing Deliverance & Damnation (2×LP, Album, Remix 180g, LP, Album, Remix 180g, All Media, Compilation) 88875094281
Really wish they reissue Deliverance+Damnation at some point. Only missing album from my top 20 albums of all time. :(
