Serving breakfast and dinner daily, the Reading Room is a one of a kind dining experience. Delectable local Maine cuisine and attentive service are surpassed only by the magnificent panoramic ocean views.

Start your evening with locally farmed oysters while deciding between our signature Beef Short Ribs or Filet and Lobster Tail fresh from the boats on the Harbor. Linger over a slice of Maine Blueberry Pie while you enjoy a crafted cocktail and soft piano music.

Smart casual attire is preferred, but not required. We do not accept parties exceeding 6 people. Please note that we are not able to guarantee tables by the window.

We requested to get a table near the window through Open table. There was a table near the window when we arrived but it was not given to us. It was given again to another customer that arrived much later than us. Aside from that, everything was great. Our server was wonderful and made dinner delightful.

Standouts were the blueberry butter and bread, and pie. The food was decent but our experience was awesome as we made the table next to us our dinner conversationak companions, the hostess was even funnier. The waitress was very good, all the hotel staff made us feel welcomed. I totally recommend this place. Fancy for birthdays and special occasions, but welcoming enough for witty banter.

This is a gorgeous spot for fine dining in Bar Harbor. The views are spectacular, the food is delicious, and service is outstanding. Highly recommend.

Great menu selection and attentive service. Most of the tables have a view of the ocean. The server made wonderful suggestions on menu items. Piano playing in the background was a nice addition. Had to save room for the blueberry pie for dessert.

Fabulous food. Lovely view and sunset! Server rushed us out at 9pm though. We would have stayed for coffee/liqueur but the bill was just plonked on the table with the desserts!

We had high hopes, but food isn’t really worth the price. Our lobster was as tough as a piece of rubber. Really overcooked. Sauce in the shrimp cocktail had so much wasabi that one could not really taste anything else. Scallops were fine but really oily. The only good dish was the dessert - blueberry pie.

For a special occasion and carefully crafted dinner choices, this is the spot. The restaurant is surrounded by windows so you have a view of the water from almost any table. Prices are $$$$ but worth it for the value. Someone is usually playing the piano during dinner which is relaxing.
