Vs. Dave and Bambi, formerly Vs. Dave, and referred to as Vs. Expunged when Expunged is admin, is a mod created by MoldyGH based on the Baldi's Basic mods, Dave’s Fun Algebra Class, Marcello's Fun House and Dave's House. It currently has 6 weeks, 7 playable characters, 32 songs, and more than 25 different versions/updates.
Story
Dave's Funkin Class
Dave's Fun Rapping Battle
Boyfriend and Girlfriend met Dave, who was grilling some sausages. BF beeps, and Dave freaks out a little. However, after seeing who it was, Dave says he saw them two days ago, and BF asks for a rap battle, which Dave enthusiastically accepts. After the first song, Dave gets a annoyed but keeps up appearances and asks for another rap battle. As the second song plays, Dave's interdimensional dislocation occurs as he and the crew's surroundings become three-dimensional, which he realizes too late. In the last song, Dave freaks out and desperately asks for help to get the world back to normal for BF. What happens next varies on the player's accuracy in the song.
If accuracy is high, the world returns to 2D, then Dave will thank Boyfriend for turning the world back to normal. If the accuracy is low, however, it's kind of the same as the first ending except Dave had expected better and feels a bit disappointed. But in the worst ending, BF falls unconscious after the events of getting out of the third dimension not long after and Dave is quite disappointed. However in all endings, Dave gives Boyfriend and Girlfriend an invitation as a thank you or helping him turn the world back 2D.
Mr. Bambi's Fun Corn Maze!
After the events of Dave's week, the invitation that Boyfriend and Girlfriend had received from him was to a picnic at a corn farm as a thank you for helping him turn the world back 2D. As the couple walks through the farm, the supposed owner appears, Bambi. The small farmer thinks they went there only to steal his corn and immediately demands a rap battle to banish both of them. After the first song, Dave calls Bambi saying they didn't go there to steal corn, but were rather invited there by Dave himself. However, due to Bambi's stupidity, he switches off his cell phone and then believes the couple were using Dave as an excuse. After Bambi realizes he's going to lose, he threatens BF saying "Don't win this one... or... or... I'll break my phone! Yeah, I'll smash my phone and you'll get grounded!"
Ultimately, Bambi breaks the phone and blames the event on BF and GF and calls for yet another rap battle. After several minutes, Dave finally arrives and Bambi is left in shock. Dave reveals the reason why he was late was due to his son, Tristan, constantly complaining. After Dave explains everything, Bambi finally realizes he broke the phone for no reason, to which Girlfriend questioned how he even thought it was a good idea in the first place. After the crew settle down, the week ends with everyone having a picnic.
The Finale
After having the picnic, Dave states that they haven't really settled on who's better of rap battling, to which Girlfriend states she can get a competition arranged quickly. Dave says to Girlfriend to put on the longest song she has, to which she responds 10 minutes. Then, Dave challenges Boyfriend to one last showdown for the victory. However, Bambi asks if he could join, but Dave rejects his request. Bambi is angered, but sits down and spectates. However, despite the rejection, Bambi forcefully takes the spotlight later on in the song.
After the battle, Tristan states that he thinks Bambi's phone is broken, as the screen is only black. Bambi, angered by this statement, asks Tristan why he was even on his phone in the first place, to which Dave also remarks how Tristan shouldn't be on Bambi's phone without his permission to do so. However Tristan continues to remark how it was really fun to use his phone, stating that there was this 'number game' he played and his favorite one to call was 911. Dave gets angered and states he could have got into lots of trouble and gets Tristan grounded, although in response to this Tristan starts crying. Dave afterwards demands Tristan to hand him the phone, to which his son did so. After the short heated argument, Dave says he and Tristan are going home, but before he does he tells BF and GF that he and Bambi are holding a festival soon, and offers them if they would like to participate, to which the couple accepts. Dave tells the two to come to Bambi's farm next week.
Bambi's Corn Festival!
The couple arrives to the corn festival and they see a whole crowd and a show being put on. Dave greets the couple and states that the crowd is pretty scarce but he will try to put up a good show, to which GF states that they're pretty good at putting up a show. Dave then states that they'll be performing with Bambi, Tristan, and them Dave himself. However, due to Dave's constant explanation and delaying time, Bambi complains, "Come on!!!". Dave then stops and says they can start the performance.
After Bambi and Tristan's performances, Dave was up next. However, an unexpected occurrence took place and before everyone knew it, Dave and the world was three dimensional yet again, and everyone was flying around. Dave, startled, asks for help again to turn back 2D, to which BF accepts as they quickly get into action.
After the unexpected event, Dave gets relieved that everything is normal now and suggests everyone should do something else. The festival continues for a few hours until it becomes late as everyone arrives home. However, BF and GF follow Dave home so they could have another final round before departing ways. Dave accepts and says that he doesn't think changing dimensions would happen twice in a row anyway. After the rap battle, however, Dave falls asleep.
Bambi's Master Week
Gameplay Mechanics
Furiosity, Polygonized, Supernovae, Glitch, Master, and Exploitation all have moments where the screen will start shaking and change the hue of the screen, in an attempt to distract the player.
Polygonized and Interdimensional has an extra layer of notes to pay attention to in the 3.0 update. The new layer consists of notes shaped in random 3D shapes, and the SPACE bar needs to be held down to access the layer. Releasing the SPACE bar reverts the arrows back to the normal layer.
Bambi's Week has phone-like notes. On Bambi's chart, it plays his alt animations. On BF's chart, the note will temporarily disable the strumline it appeared on when missed.
Maze has the player starting the song with slightly less Health than usual.
Cheating and Unfairness can also shake the screen, however it's small enough to go unnoticed.
Cheating has multiple different gimmicks to make it a proper punishment for, as the song's name states, Cheating, including:
- The player taking damage each time Expunged hits a note (which can kill BF if HP is low enough).
- Each note (except the down note prior to 3.0) appearing in the wrong lane.
- The Notes and the Strikelines themselves horizonally moving around, in an attempt to confuse the player.
The v2.5 update introduced another song, Unfairness, which introduces some more gameplay alterations such as:
- The player taking damage each time Expunged hits a note, however the player takes less damage overall compared to Cheating.
- Earlier, the player's health bar would decrease every several seconds. It would look like the player is missing notes even though they are not pressing any.
- The Notes and Strikelines circling around the center of the screen.
- Starting the song with max Health. This only applies to v2.5, as in later versions you start the song with 50% Health just like other songs.
- Ghost tapping being automatically turned off.
- Each note having a different scroll speed.
- When the player is currently using Upscroll, the song automatically switches to Downscroll.
Exploitation has a lot of modcharts. Expunged's sprite will also outright appear outside the game window at one point.
- In the pause menu, the option the player hovers over can randomly change without making any input.
- Near the part where Expunged exits the window, a notification will appear informing the player that expunged.dat has been detected as a potential threat.
Each character in the character selection menu has their own score multipliers depending on what notes the player presses.
- Boyfriend gives a score multiplier of 1x (or 350 points) for every note.
- Dave gives a score multiplier of .25x on the left and right notes and 2x on the up and down notes.
- Bambi gives a score multiplier of 0x on every note except for the up note, which gives a score multiplier of 3x.
- Tristan gives a score multipler of .5x on every note except for the left note, which gives a score multiplier of 2x.
- Golden Tristan gives a score multiplier of .25x on every note except for the down note, which gives a score multiplier of 2x.
- 3D Dave has the exact opposite multipliers as 2D Dave (2x on left and right, .25x on up and down)
- Expunged gives a score multipler of 0x on every note except for the right note, which gives a score multiplier of 3x, similar to Bambi.
While this is not much of a gameplay interference, during Cheating, Unfairness, Exploitation, Glitch, Supernovae and Kabunga, additional text is displayed below the song title in the lower left corner. While Glitch and Supernovae credit their respective composers, the others read completely different texts unique to their songs.
- In Cheating, it reads "Notes are scrambled! FUCK you!"
- In Unfairness, it reads "Ghost tapping is forced off! FUCK YOU!"
- Prior to 3.0, it reads "Ghost tapping is forced off! Screw you!"
- In Kabunga, it reads "OH MY GOD I JUST DEFLATED"
- In Exploitation, it reads "You won't survive, Boyfriend!"
- If self-awareness is enabled, it will instead read "You won't survive", then the username set on the player's computer. like this: You won't survive {{USER}} !
- Prior to 3.0, Mealie also had composer credits present in the lower left corner.
Recursed has notes with freeplay letters for textures. Missing one will have an X appear over BF's sprite. Missing four will change BF's skin, cause the camera to tilt around, disable health regen and slowly draining health until a certain number of notes have been hit.
Five Nights has some gameplay mechanics in its disposal.
- The player controls a blast door that works similar to the doors in Five Nights at Freddy's.
- Nofriend would try to attack Dave at certain occasions of the song, and if the door isn't closed the player is put into an automatic Game Over, styled like the jumpscares from Five Nights at Freddy's.
- Much like the game, the player also has to keep track of how much power Dave has left. When the door is kept closed, a lot of power is consumed. When the power goes out, the building goes dark as the player is put into an automatic Game Over.
- Health regen and combo counter are disabled, while Nofriend has those luxuries as if Dave is still an opponent.

Songs and Sprites
- The first two songs in Bambi's Master Week are from another rhythm game, Clone Hero.
- The section of Supernovae used in the mod is actually only the final solo. The full song, produced by ArchWK, is 15 minutes long, and features solos from 12 other artists in the Clone Hero community.
- Glitch is a song that was produced by The Boneyard, a group consisting of top Clone Hero player Frif as well as several other artists in the Clone Hero community.
- Prior to 3.0, these songs were directly sampled, however, in 3.0, they are remixes.
- Polygonized, Interdimensional, and Exploitation have the ability to shake the screen.
- The screen also cycles through the RGB color wheel alongside the shaking.
- The song Insanity shares a name with another song by Corrupt.
- Dave's first song House is the only song that doesn't use external plugins in FL Studio.
- Splitathon is the only song to have both Bambi and Dave sing in one song.
- Many of the mod’s songs have leitmotifs to each other.
- The Menu Music, House, and Blocked have a leitmotif to Glitch.

- Prior to 3.0, House, Insanity, Polygonized, Bonus Song, Furiosity and Blocked have an extra difficulty called Legacy which uses their original charts, before being removed from the mod entirely.

- The Secret song added in v1.0 is based off a meme of VS Matt. The meme, in present is referencing how Matt's charting is too spammy in the old version. The opponent in Secret is Bambi.
- The v1.0 icon for Splitathon used for the OST and Freeplay menu uses Bambi's Alpha 9 icon. That's because the icon for Splitathon was made before Bambi's Icon was updated.
- In v2.0, Pressing 7 in Cheating will make the player instantly lose.
- It was originally intended to restart the player's computer in Unfairness, however this feature was scrapped due to various issues.
- The bridge in the old background of Bambi's week is a reference to the Garry's Mod map, gm_flatgrass.
- In some parts of Insanity, Dave will become 3D and the background will turn into the one from Polygonized.
- The quote "there was doodoo feces" heard in Bambi Speak is taken from an interview with late singer Michael Jackson about his time in prison, as he was talking about how horrible the bathrooms there were, quote: "there was doodoo feces all over the walls, the ceiling..."
- The Cutscene before House uses Pre-Alpha Insanity's Instrumental as Background Music.
- Both the v1.0 and v2.0 Cutscenes for Maze use the Bad-Ending Music as Background Music as well.
- Although not normally playable, Cheating was actually added in v1.0, not v2.0.
- This older version was quite different however, as it lacked a sprite for Expunged, an unique background (simply reusing the one from Furiosity) and the strikelines moving around during the song.

- Mealie and Vs. Dave Thanksgiving are not included most likely because they were released after the Spotify OST release.

- Rano's background has a hidden stock image of a bear located off-camera, referencing a video uploaded by WowzaboiModder where he had to escape from a bear during a field trip event in Baldi's Basics.[2]

- Bambi (And by extension, Expunged) was voiced by a Brazilian guy on Discord, YouTube, Twitter, etc. called MarcelloBasics03 or Marcello for short.
- Bambi and Expunged's voices were sampled from a video by MoldyGH called GET TROLLED!!!!!, where Moldy trolls Marcello in a Discord call.
- Dave's origin was from a mod of Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning called Dave's Fun Algebra Class.
- In Polygonized and Interdimensional, Dave speaks using a font that resembles barcodes.

Easter Eggs and Secrets
- When the player starts up the game, there is about a 1/10000 chance of a picture of Bambi popping up on the player's screen, after 10 seconds, there is a Bambi and Exorcist Girl jumpscare and the game crashes.
- When playing any of Bambi's Songs in Story Mode, there is a 1/1000 that the dialogue music will change, the secret dialogue music is the same from Bambi's Master Week.
- When attempting to enter Freeplay, there is about a 1/2000 chance that the player will be redirected to Boycott Baldi Dies 2.
- Attempting to access the chart editor during certain songs (mostly ones featured in the Joke or Terminal categories) will result in various different events occuring.
- Entering it during Vs Dave Rap will take the player to Vs Dave Rap Two.
- Entering it during Supernovae will take the player to Cheating.
- Entering it during Glitch will take the player to Kabunga.
- Entering it during Cheating will take the player to Unfairness.
- Entering it during Master or Exploitation will lead to an automatic Game Over.
- Entering it during Unfairness will take the player to a hidden log terminal. See section below for further details.
- Entering it during Kabunga will crash the game and take the player to Five Nights at Muko's.

- By quitting to the main menu in Exploitation, the mod will crash and revert everything back to normal. However, the warning normally shown when entering the mod will instead be replaced with "Coward.".
- In Exploitation, Expunged will create and open a "HELLO.txt" file for every Game Over. The file contains a random quote from a list, the quotes being:

- In the source code, the player can find a line of code that quits the game and opens a video if the player fails a song in the Bambi week, The video is called "GET TROLLED!" and it consists of 17 minutes of Marcello's (the guy Mr. Bambi parodies) doing random actions. This is also where the post-Corn Theft cutscene audio originates from as well as Bambi's samples in his week.

Reason: This section spoilers several deeper lore elements of the mod.
The Terminal is a feature that is accessed by pressing 7 in Unfairness. In the Terminal, the player can access special songs and lore about characters.
There are eight characters the player can use in the console:
- Dave
- Bambi
- Tristan
- Expunged
- Exbungo
- Recurser (doesn't work in 3.0a)
- Moldy
- Boyfriend (only work if not have granted for admin)
By typing "admin grant [eight characters the player can use].dat", the player can access several songs.
- Granting Expunged admin causes the mod to crash. When it's opened back up, the application name is renamed to Vs. Expunged, and Exploitation is unlocked.
- Granting Exbungo admin will load a random song from the mod, replace the opponent with Exbungo, add amen breaks to the instrumental and adds the distortion effect from Kabunga.
- Granting Moldy admin will cause the game to crash and redirect the player to a video where he plays pre-1.3 Baldi's Basics.
- Granting Dave admin loads House with Cheating's Modchart.
- Granting Bambi admin loads a version of Shredder where all notes become the up note.
- Granting Tristan admin makes the notes group in a Left, Right, Down, Up order rather than Left, Down, Up, Right, and loads a cover of him singing House.
- Granting Recurser admin loads Polygonized with a wavy arrow Modchart and notably different beginning and ending dialogue. The setting also takes place at night without the world being 3d until the end, as if nothing happened to Dave after the events of Insanity.
By typing "> open [keyword]", strings of text relating to the keyword will be shown will be shown. Words displayed in all caps can often be used as keywords.

- Prior to 3.0b, it said: LOG -1: Beep skeedoop bop! Skeep leep. Skadeep!
- > open 1 says: LOG 1: Hello. I'm currently writing this from in my lab. This entry will probably be short. Tristan is only 3 and will wake up soon. But this is mostly just to test things. Bye.
- > open 2 says: LOG 2: I randomly turned 3-Dimensional again, but things we're different this time... I appeared in a void with random red geometric shapes scattered everywhere and an unknown light source. What is this place? Can I visit it again?
- > open 3 says: LOG 3: I'm currently working on studying interdimensional dislocation. There has to be a root cause. Some trigger. I hope there aren't any long term side effects.

- > open p.r.a.e.m says: Name: Power Removal And Extraction Machine | Progress: Complete | Notes: Took longer than expected. Tristan's 7th BIRTHDAY is in a month.
- > open solution says: I feel every ounce of my being torn to shreds and reconstructed with some parts removed. I can hear the electronical hissing of the machine. Every fiber in my being is begging me to STOP. I don't.
- > open lord says: A being of many eyes. A being so wise. He gives it all up to ensure, that the golden one will have a bright future.
- > open birthday says: Sent back to the void, a shattered soul encounters his broken <reflection>.
- > open stop says: A reflection that is always wrong now has appeared in his dream. It's a part thats now missing. A chunk out of his soul.
By typing "vault free p.r.a.e.m reflection", the player will be given access to several new keywords that can be used with the "open" command.

I wish I knew, everything that will happen to you. But I don't, and that's okay. As long as I'm here you'll always see a sunny day.

- The "creature" is Expunged corrupting Dave's spritesheet, as confirmed in this archive.org snapshot showing a "writer's note" about referring to him as "Proto-Expunged"
- > open ZW1haWw= ("email" in base64) shows a link to davetabase-mysterious-email, a Google Drive folder containing numerous coded messages. A lone readme file sits in the folder from "Center Fuse", informing Dave this is to "satisfy your curiosity about him and everything that surrounds him", and warns him to stop after, as it isn't safe.
- > open YXJ0aWZhY3QzLWE= ("artifact3-a" in base64) shows a link to davetabase-artifact3, a dithered photograph with a sheet of paper, having another cipher written on it. Plastic cups can also be seen on the desk surface the paper lies on.
There were also other commands the player could type which mostly lead to other songs.
If "welcometobaldis" is entered, a message appears saying "This was fun while it lasted but do it the intended way now plz k thx"
- Prior to 3.0b, it took the player straight to the You Can Think Pad minigame before Roofs.

- Tristan - Beat Dave's week in Story Mode.
- Dave - Beat Bonus Song in Freeplay.
- Mr. Bambi - Get the Worst Ending. To do so, play the Dave week and then end Polygonized with 5% health left (Furiosity before 2.5).
- Mr. Bambi isn't unlockable anymore since the 3.0 update.
- Bambi - Beat Bambi's week in Story Mode.
- 3D Dave - Beat Polygonized. (Furiosity before 2.5 And with The LEGACY Dificulty Before 2.5c).
- Golden Tristan - Beat Dave's week, Bambi's week and Finale in Story Mode (or unlock all characters).
- Expunged - Die during the sections where the screen starts changing colors in Polygonized. Note that the color changing feature can be turned off in the settings (2.5); Beat Cheating until the end (3.0).
- Marcello Dave - Either break the ENTIRE character select's reordering system[7], or press 7.
Cameos in other Mods
Note: All of these cameos are not canon to Vs. Dave and Bambi story.
- In The Date Week, Dave and Bambi appear in the credits as background characters.
- In The Impossible Trio Chart, Bambi makes an appearance in The Impossible Trio and Survival, while Expunged and Dave make an appearance in Agony and Swapped Trio respectively.
- In Vs. Aflac, Dave from this mod serves as the opponent in Copy Cat, since there's also a character on the mod with same name.
- In Vs. Mokey, Bambi appears during Dilan Noises as a comedic cameo.
- In Vs. Ron: The Resurrection, Dave makes an appearance in the song "HOLY SHIT DAVE FNF"
- In Baldo's Funk Escol, Dave appears in a song.
- In Funkin' Aside, Dave and Bambi make a background appearance in Week 6.
- In Party Week, Bambi is an opponent in the song Slash Jay, whilst Dave is in the background in the aforementioned song.

Dave: I brought Mint Chocolate Chip Cupcakes.
Bambi: I brought NICE_POP.
Boyfriend: (What the hell are any of these foods?)
Everyone eventually settles down and has a picnic.
Bambi also starts a food fight out of nowhere, but that's besides the point.

Boyfriend: Beep.
Bambi: Huh? You not actually want corn?
Girlfriend: That's what we've been trying to tell yo-
Bambi: You not using invite as excuse?
Girlfriend: Ye-
Boyfriend: Boop skeedep!
Bambi:I feel stupid... I broke my phone for no reason...
- Dave comes out of the corn.*
Dave: Sorry I'm late...
Bambi: Can you buy me another phone?
Dave: *sigh* Yeah...
Dave: Maybe a flip phone so you don't smash it the next time you get angry.
The four burst into laughter.
They eventually settle down and Dave reveals he brought food for a pic-nic.
Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Bambi, and Dave all have a nice, fun pic-nic.

Dave: You know, I like chilling out.
Dave: But we haven't settled which is the better rapper.
Dave: So I think, we have a 10 minute showdown.
Dave: Whoever wins will be proven the master rapper.
Bambi: What about me?
Dave: Bambi
Dave: Please stay out of this, this is only between me and boyfriend.
Bambi: ...
Dave: Alright, let's settle this!
Girlfriend: I'm rooting for you boyfriend!
Boyfriend: Beep bo bop

Dave: Wow! Nice rapping! How about another one-
Tristan: DAD!!! I'm done playing the game on Bambi's phone! Can we go home now? I'm tired.
Dave: You were doing WHAT?!
Bambi: I NEVER TOLD YOU THAT YOU COULD USE MY PHONE!
Tristan: BUT IT'S REALLY FUN!!!
Tristan: You have these number buttons, and you can arrange them in different orders to hear different things!
Tristan: My favorite one to type in is 911-
Dave: SON! YOU'RE GROUNDED!
Tristan begins to cry.
Tristan: Why, daddy? It's fun!
Dave: THOSE ARE REAL PEOPLE!!! This also means I'm taking away YOUR phone. Hand it over.
Tristan: But dad-
Dave: No buts. Hand. It. Over.
Tristan hands over the phone.
Dave: Thank you.
Dave: Anyways, I guess this is goodbye, boyfriend. See you around!
Boyfriend: Bap!
Dave: Wonderful! Tristan has to go to bed now, so we'll be leaving. Bambi, do you need to sleep on our couch tonight?
Bambi: I can sleep in the barn!
Dave: Errrrr... ok! Bye bye!
Bambi: Bye bye!
Boyfriend: Bee bee!
Girlfriend: See-ya!
