It started as a book club. It became a way to build a better life together.

Karissa Newcomb is ready for a new start in a new neighborhood, as far away as she can get from Seattle, where her husband cheated on her with the neighbor who was supposed to be her best friend. She and her nine-year-old daughter are moving on to the city of Gig Harbor on the bay in Puget Sound. She even has a new job as an assistant at a small publishing company right in Gig Harbor. Her new boss seems like a bit of a curmudgeon, but a job is a job, she loves to read, and the idea of possibly meeting writers sounds fabulous.

Soon she finds she’s not the only one in need of a refresh. Her new neighbors, Alice and Margot, are dealing with their own crises. Alice is still grieving her late husband and hasn’t been able to get behind the wheel of a car since a close call after his death. Margot is floundering after getting divorced and laid off in quick succession. They could all use a distraction, and a book club seems like just the ticket. Together, the three women, along with Alice’s grumpy older sister, Josie, embark on a literary journey that just might be the kick start they need to begin building their best lives yet.

The Best Life Book Club by Sheila Roberts is a women’s fiction novel that not only focuses on romance but friendship, healing and personal growth for the characters. The story in The Best Life Book Club is one that is told by changing the point of view between the characters.

Karissa Newcomb packed up her daughter and herself to move away from Seattle to a new start in Gig Harbor on the bay in Puget Sound. Karissa had caught her husband with her neighbor who she thought was a really good friend so getting out of that city was the only way she knew to cope with both losses in her life.

Upon arriving in Gig Harbor Karissa begins a new job as an assistant at a small publishing company where she enjoys getting to know the authors and her new boss. Karissa also meets new neighbors, Alice and Margot, who have their own life’s dilemmas they are dealing with but the ladies all suggest forming a book club of their own to spend getting to know one another and escape their troubles.

Sheila Roberts is another author that has many many books out there and from those that I have read I always find myself enjoying the story and character. The Best Life Book Club was no exception to that fact with really four stories to follow along with each of the ladies that all had a little humor and a lot of heart and of course this one should appeal to the readers with the story focusing around just that, reading. Definitely an author I will continue to return to in the future.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

As someone who found a book club after moving to a new town, it quickly became my favorite thing! Not only for the shared love and discussion of books but also the friendships that have been formed because of it. All this to say, I adored this book!

We, as the reader, get the pleasure of following along on the journey of four women. These women also happen to make up The Best Life Book Club.

Through the books they read, experiences they share and ultimate growth as individual characters, what starts as a way to distract from their own troubles quickly turns into a bond that Sheila masterfully intertwines between each of the women and the growth they each encounter.

There is so much to take away and love about this book. Much like a book club, what stood out and resonated with you may not be the same for others and this book is the perfect pick for a book club for this very reason!

For me, Karissa’s story resonated with me the most and I loved the overall theme of the importance of friendship.

This book is set to release May 7th! Read it alone, buddy read or recommend it as a book club pick but for sure grab this book and enjoy the journey or better yet, journeys!

Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for an arc of this book. All opinions are my own.

Karissa Newcomb is making a new life in a new neighborhood after her husband cheated on her with their neighbor and her ex-bestfriend. Karissa moves out of Seattle and to Gig Harbor with her nine year old daughter, and lands a job at a small publishing company! As an avid reader, she is in love with this job and sees this as a fresh page in her book of life.
Her neighbors in Gig Harbor are also dealing with major life changes, Alice is dealing with the death of her husband and the love of her life, while also struggling to get back in the car after a bad accident. Margot is dealing with a divorce and losing her job, all the while she has a nagging mother who wants to make sure her daughter won't be unemployed for long.
Josie, Alice's older sister, is struggling in her relationship with her daughter due to them not seeing eye-to-eye about her husband.
All in all, I set this book on my shelf for too long because I wasn't feeling like a slice-of-life read. I finally started this book, and I couldn't stop turning the page!
I became so immersed in the characters' lives that I felt like I was a part of their group, and I couldn't stop turning the pages to find out how their lives turned out
┈↠ Review ↞┈
I got so absorbed in this book and the characters' lives. Sheila Robert does an amazing job of writing real-life scenarios and creating characters that everyone can relate to. I wasn't expecting romance in this book, I was expecting four women making a book club and talking about their problems, but this book was so much more than that. These woman leaned on each other and all grew in their own way, the book takes turns going from each pov. Each unique character offers insights into their lives and their struggles. Alongside this, there is a slight romance, that is realistic, and not overbearing like most romances.
THIS BOOK COMES OUT MAY 7TH!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU READ IT!!!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of The Best Life Book Club by Sheila Roberts.

This book is about starting over and second chances. The main character Karissa is dealing with betrayal from her husband and best friend. Karissa and her daughter Macy move from Seattle to Gig Harbor, WA to start over. In the beginning they are both dealing with being lonely and sadness of losing friends. Slowly they both find new friends.

The book dealt a lot with moving on, trusting others, feeling better about yourself, forgiveness, trying new things, standing up for yourself, and finding true friendships. Not everything turned out all sunshine and rainbows, but there were promises of better times ahead.

I am not sure if it was how the book was laid out in Kindle...but I had a hard time with how the book bounced from one person to the next. I felt like I was constantly in someone else head.

The Best Life Book Club by Sheila Roberts:
This is a charming, and often funny, PG-rated, character-based love letter to fans of books and reading. I enjoyed getting to know the 4 main characters, Karissa, Margot, Alice, and Josie. They form an unlikely book club when newly divorced Karissa moves to their neighborhood. In time they each find the right book at the right time to help them heal their individual wounds. I was invested in their stories and became hopeful that everyone in the group would be given a happy ending. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Book lovers are going to enjoy the literary references woven into this story about a book club being just what these women need! Karissa, Alice, Margot & Josie start a book club. Initially bonded over reading, the group quickly falls into the friendship category. Their first book club selection is a self-help book, setting the tone of personal growth. Each woman embarks on a personal journey towards a fresh start.

I wanted to love this much more than I did. My favorite parts were the book club and references to other books. I enjoyed the characters, but it switched point of view at unexpected times so it was hard to keep all straight. There were so many characters because you were reading about four women’s lives all on a self journey unrelated to any of the other women. I liked Karissa’s storyline the most.

Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the advanced release copy in exchange for an honest review.

My first ARC gifted book and what a great one to read! Friendships, personal growth, relationships, and work are all tied together and centered around a book club. My favorite were the quotes at the beginning of the chapter, as well as throughout the novel that added humor or warmth to sad situations. The ending was perfect!

The cover of this book is very appealing and the description of the story was interesting to me. I found this book to be an entertaining and ok read.

I liked all four main characters in this book. It was easy to empathize with Karissa, Margot, Alice and Josie as they dealt with the issues in their lives. The secondary characters all added to the story. I would have liked more with Shirley and Andre though.

The story's pace was ok but there were some awkward jumps between characters. Perhaps that is due to the layout of the eARC and won't seem so awkward in the final edition. I just found it to interrupt the flow of the story a little bit.

Overall this was an enjoyable story and, for the most part, easy to read. Similar in style to Debbie Macomber so if you are a fan of hers you will enjoy this book.

3.5 stars.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion which I have given.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of The Best Life Book Club by Sheila Roberts due to be published May 7, 2024.
Karissa has just moved to Gig Harbor with nine-year-old Macy to get away from the town where her husband cheated on her with her former best friend. She has a new job with a small publishing company which is wonderful since she loves reading.
She soon meets her neighbors, Alice (who is grieving her late husband), and Margot (who recently not only got divorced, but laid off).
Needing a distraction, they decide to form a book club, along with Alice’s grouchy older sister, Josie.
I usually read thrillers, but every once in awhile stray from that genre, and I’m so glad I did.
The Best Life Book Club was a delight – I smiled a lot, laughed out loud, and cried in some places – what a fabulous book.
If you want something to make you smile long after you’ve finished reading – this book is for you – I absolutely loved it!

I have read many books by Sheila Roberts in the past and was thrilled to be given this opportunity to read her latest book as an advance copy!

The Best Life Book Club is a heartwarming tale of resilience, friendship, and self-discovery.

I found lead character Karissa Newcomb’s journey from betrayal to empowerment both inspiring and relatable.

I enjoyed the inclusion of newfound friends who were on their own journeys as well, which led them to form their Book Club.

Author Sheila Roberts is skilled at weaving together themes of love, loss, and second chances, making this a must-read for anyone seeking a fresh start themselves or for who enjoys cheering from the sidelines!

I found this to be yet another one of Sheila‘s books that I would recommend!

Thankyou Sheila!

I can't believe I am doing this...the second book in a row that I am going to DNF. I especially don't like to do this with ARCs because I was gifted a book in return for my review and I feel it is my obligation to see it through to the end and give it a fair chance. But I just couldn't make myself go another page deeper. This is my first book by this author. I was about 20% in and really struggling when I looked her up. Immediately I knew what my problem was with this book. She is an older author at 71 years old. I just don't care for the writing styles of most older adult authors in this genre. I find them stiff and old-fashioned.

I am honestly having a hard time finding a positive here. I liked the setting…anything Pacific Northwest usually draws me right in. Outside of that, I have nothing. I felt the plot and the characters were both sorely lacking. The plot was shallow. Scenes were skimmed over. There wasn't a lot of detail. The transition between character perspectives was clunky and it threw off the flow of the story. There would be a lot of time spent on mundane parts that really made no contribution to the story, such as detailed accounts of Karissa's work day; however, other parts were glossed over, often jumping from one day to several days later. I just didn't get it.

I felt that most of the characters lacked a true identity. They had little to no personality. They felt stiff and formal and their portrayed age did not match up with their actual age. When Alice was introduced, I assumed she was in her late 60’s or early 70’s, so imagine my surprise when the author tells me that she is 57…only 10 years older than I currently am. On the other hand, Macy is supposed to be a 9 year old but she comes off as much younger. Her first day of school scene had me thinking she was in kindergarten or first grade. Karissa also treated her as if she was much younger. I also felt that the interactions between the characters just did not feel authentic. They felt superficial and forced. The dialogue felt unnatural and did not have an easy flow to it. No one under 60 talks like the characters in this book. No one says things like "doofy dog" or "posse" or "I didn't mean to frighten the whiskers off of you." What does that even mean? I also hated the names of some of these characters. They sounded like medications...Allegra, Lystra, Emerald. I felt like the author was trying to be young and hip but it did not work for me.

I made it to chapter 7 - 24% and just couldn't do it anymore. There are too many good books sitting out there to spend time on one that just doesn't interest me or make me happy. This may be the perfect read for someone else but this reader is not the right audience for this book.

I recently had the pleasure of diving into the captivating world created by Sheila Roberts in her latest work, The Best Life Book Club. I found the narrative to be a delightful exploration of establishing a new life, forging meaningful friendships, and experiencing profound personal growth.

Sheila Roberts masterfully weaves a story that resonates with anyone who has ever sought a fresh start. The protagonist's journey is not only relatable but also inspiring, as she navigates the challenges of reinvention with the support and camaraderie of her fellow book club members.

One of the standout elements of the book is Roberts' ability to seamlessly integrate the transformative power of literature into the characters' lives. The book club becomes more than just a gathering; it becomes a catalyst for change, a source of solace, and a platform for shared experiences. The way the author intertwines the characters' growth with the books they read adds depth and nuance to the overall narrative.

The exploration of new friendships is another heartwarming aspect of The Best Life Book Club. Roberts skillfully develops the connections between characters, showing that true companionship can emerge even in the most unexpected circumstances. The diverse personalities within the book club create a rich tapestry of relationships, highlighting the beauty of human connection.

Moreover, the theme of personal growth is expertly portrayed throughout the novel. Each character undergoes a transformative journey, and as a reader, you can't help but feel a sense of kinship with their struggles and triumphs. Roberts navigates the complexities of self-discovery with a delicate touch, offering readers a mirror to reflect on their own paths toward a better life.

In conclusion, Sheila Roberts has crafted a gem with The Best Life Book Club. It's a celebration of new beginnings, the power of literature, and the significance of authentic friendships. I found myself immersed in a world where every page turned felt like a step closer to realizing one's fullest potential. This book is not just a story; it's an invitation to embark on a transformative journey, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a heartening and uplifting read.

I always enjoy a Sheila Roberts book. This book centered on a group of neighbors who decided to start a bookclub. Each of the ladies are going through changes in their lives and the books they read and their discussion during club help them work through their issues. That is what makes book clubs special..you can bond over books! PS I loved the book cover!

“Every small need you meet is a stepping stone to fulfilling bigger needs.”

At its heart, “The Best Life Book Club” is about redemption and reimagining your life. When Karissa Newcomb’s husband cheats on her with her best friend and neighbor, she and her daughter move to idyllic Gig Harbor, a small town a respectable distance away, seeking a new start. Karissa has a new job, with a small publishing house, and a group of neighbors who quickly become book club members and then friends. Through the course of the novel, we follow Karissa and her crew, watching each of them grapple with their own challenges and come out the other side.

This book has a lot going for it: charming cover, compelling setup, sweet characters who make you want things to work out for them. While we spent time beneath the surface with each character, I found myself wanting more: more showing, less telling, more letting the women be fully fleshed out people, navigating complex issues.

This wasn’t a home run for me, but I was happy to spend time in Gig Harbor - and pleased to leave Karissa and crew to their HEA after I departed for other horizons.

Sheila Roberts' "The Best Life Book Club" offers a heartfelt journey of friendship and the transformative power of literature.

Through the lens of four women navigating life's challenges, the novel explores the complexities of relationships, loss, and personal growth.

At the heart of the story is Karissa Newcomb, a newly divorced single mother who finds herself in a new town. Reluctant at first, Karissa discovers companionship among her diverse group of neighbors, united by their shared love for reading. As they form a book club, the chosen texts become more than just stories—they become guiding lights along the paths through their individual struggles.

From the beginning, the characters feel relatable, drawing readers into their lives with authenticity. Karissa's journey, in particular, resonates deeply, mirroring the complexities of modern motherhood and the quest for belonging.

While the characters and their romantic dilemmas are compelling, some aspects of the storytelling feel rushed, particularly in the resolution of each storyline. The neat tying up of loose ends may leave readers craving more depth and complexity, especially in Margot and Josie's arcs, which could have benefited from further exploration.

Another critique lies in the narrative structure (in the eARC I received), which occasionally falters in distinguishing between the various points of view. Clearer markers or identifiers would enhance the reading experience, preventing confusion as the story shifts, often, between characters.

"Here's to our book club. And to books, and the lives they change."

If you enjoy reading books that are book-centered, then “The Best Life Book Club” is for you. There are also a list of fun questions at the end to further connect you with the story.

Update: I changed it to two stars after thinking about it. This book just didn't really come together for me and was so boring to read. Now that I'm back on stuff I find interesting, I'm realized just how bad this one was.

I got this one as an ARC from NetGalley, and honestly, I didn't love it.

The story overall is ok but I struggled a lot with the writing style. It felt very juvenile and the whole book was overflowing with tropes. The main character had almost no personality (luckily other characters like Josie did). Many of the obstacles in the book don't really make sense. Karissa falls in love with her boss who she barely knows and also has no personality. Many of the obstacles either don't make sense or are overcome too easily.

Also, the book jumps from character to character often and without great breaks between the jumps. I did have an ARC so maybe some formatting was missing but it was hard to keep track of whose perspective we were on at times.

I do think the heart of the story is ok. The writing needs a lot of polish though and some of the characters need more oomph to them. I also liked the idea of the books the club read being integrated into the story but there were so many self-help books that I didn't know if they were real books or made up for this story.

“The Best Life Book Cub” by Sheila Roberts is a second chance type of novel, drawing on the popular theme of female bonding that takes place in a book club. I love this type of story and I was really looking forward to reading this. The story centers around Karissa (reeling from her husband deserting her for her best friend), Alice (a grieving widow who has developed a fear of driving), Alice’s sister Jo (a not-so-grieving widow who is on bad terms with her daughter) and Margot (recently laid off and trying to get her life back on track). Karissa moves to a charming new town, makes new friends, begins working for a small publishing house, and is immediately attracted to her boss.

The story was charming and as comforting as a nice cup of tea on a rainy afternoon. Yes, the outcomes for all these women’s troubles seemed to have been produced by effortless magic. Only in a fairy tale could someone experience such success with so little efforts and so little time. But that’s not to be unexpected in this type of novel.

However, there were some things that made it rather difficult to love this novel. First, the point of view shift between the four characters was abrupt and made it difficult to follow. Perhaps making a new chapter with each POV shift and labelling the chapter with the character’s name could solve the problem. I had to constantly go back to double check who was the character in focus, which was rather disrupting. The second issue (which is not the author’s fault, but probably due to it being an un-proofed digital ARC) was that in numerous places the paragraph spacing was off, which again disrupted the flow of reading.

Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for an ARC of this novel. My opinions are my own.

Sheila Roberts newest women's fiction book is centered around Karissa Newcomb and her daughter who moved to a new town to start over after a particular devastating divorce and Karissa struggles to let her guard down after she was betrayed so horribly by her husband. A fresh start, a new job and soon new friends as her neighbors make her and her daughter feel at home in their new home and city. I love this author's past books and found her newest book, THE BEST LIFE BOOK CLUB, to be full of heart, friendship and more within the pages. It started out slow for me to get into the book but by midway, I was thouroughly enjoying the characters immensely and found myself rooting for everyone to get their own happy ever after. The writing is swift and entertaining, filled with some intriguing though at times predictable moments but that didn't lessen my enjoyment of the story of Karissa and her new friends adventures.

The reader meets Karissa, her daughter, Macy, with her neighbors, Alice, Margot and Alice's sister, Josie, soon all become close friends and when they start a book club the fun begins even as each character finds their own issues coming unpacked and learn how to jump start their lives in a way that brings them happiness...if they are brave enough to grab a hold of it. I got to admit, I loved Josie the most. She had a caustic wit about her that hid a tender heart and had me snickering several times throughout the book. Margot and Alice are really fun and interesting women that befriends Karissa and her daughter. What I loved the most about these characters are how they built up one another whenever the other was beaten down with insecurity and doubts. That tribe of friends was a perfect for me to rally behind as they learned to find joy and purpose again as their lives moved in ways that left them wondering what was going on. The books they read and discussed became part of their story individually and collectively which made me eager to see within the story if these characters took heart to what they learned from them even as they scoffed over it all in private. The author does an amazing job in keeping each character unique and so different from one another that I never felt like they were just 'dialing it in' so to speak. The characters were wildly entertaining and kept my attention through out the book.

THE BEST LIFE BOOK CLUB is more than a story about friendships but about each person's journey in life as it tosses curveballs that can make those weaker curl up and whimper. Ms. Roberts delivers a powerful story about the magic of friendship, family love and more as each of the main characters finds their true purpose in life and a friendship that delivers more than a superficial moment of emotion but a richer and much deeper love between all four of them that makes the reader keep reading till the very end. This is such an uplifting story that I was sad to see it end. I can't wait to see what else the author has in store for her readers as we discover Gig Harbor and the residents there that make me long to visit. If your looking for a perfect spring book club book or read, then I highly recommend THE BEST LIFE BOOK CLUB that delivers, laughs, promises, friendship and more within its pages.

I think I will always be drawn to books about books and book clubs since I’m such a bibliophile. I really wanted to like this one but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.
Karissa and her 8 year old daughter, Macy, have moved 50 miles away from their home since Karissa’s husband, Mark, cheated on her with her best friend and next door neighbor. Both Karissa and Macy are scared to start over, but their new neighbors are friendly and Karissa has gotten a job working for a small publication company. Soon enough both have made friends and Karissa starts a book club with her neighbors and the sister of one of them. They books they read are self help and nonfiction and each finds something within the pages to help them grow as a person and better their lives.
While real books and authors are mentioned, the books Karissa’s book club reads are all fictional. Each chapter opens with a quote from one of the book club reads which means the quotes are not actually self help quotes but advice Ms. Roberts either gives to others or has been given. Regardless I felt like it wasn’t really needed since the reader not only hasn’t read the book from which the quote came but can’t ever read it since it doesn’t exist. I appreciate Ms. Roberts attempt to make this book more realistic, but it just added to the annoyance factor for me.
I normally enjoy books with multiple character voices but this jumps from character to character without any discernible difference that all it adds is a level of confusion.
Taking place over a year thing I enjoyed was the character development. With the exception of one rushed character, the development that take place amongst the others is actually quite interesting.
With the way this is written, I find it hard to believe that Ms. Roberts has nearly 50 books on her repertoire. WIth such dull writing and insipid characters (despite their great development) this read like a novice writer wrote it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for an advanced copy of this. The Best Life Book Club hit the shelves on May 7th.

I've been reading Sheila Roberts for a long time, and she never disappoints. This was such a cute, entertaining book.

Karissa Newcomb needs a fresh start to get away from her cheating ex-husband and her ex best friend whom he cheated with. She decides to move to Gig Harbor with her daughter Macy. Not too far so Macy can still see her father but far enough to try to build a new life. She's found a new job at a small publishing company and is excited to start. But she feels like she'll never get over the heartbreak. She's even hesitant to make friends, but her neighbors Alice and Margot are so welcoming. Both of them are dealing with their own issues. Alice is still grieving the loss of her husband and will not get behind the wheel of a car. Margot, who's divorced, was laid off and is still looking for a job. Together, they decide to start a book club, which would be the perfect distraction from their everyday woes. Josie, Alice's grumpy older sister, joins as well. The four women discuss books and help each other through difficult times.

A charming story about new beginnings, overcoming heartbreak, and friendship. It was lighthearted, heartwarming, and fun. There was enough drama to keep me glued to the pages and also a bit of romance. I loved how the four women bonded over books and made references to quotes in their everyday life. I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend it.

The Best Life Book Club is just as good as I thought it would be! Once you get started it’s hard to put down and I absolutely love when that happens! I could not stop smiling while reading the last few chapters. Sheila Roberts’ writing style is effortless and so easy to read! The setting is Gig Harbor, Wa which is just a hop, skip and a jump down the road from us! It’s so fun reading books that mention places you’ve actually been to!
-Karissa is a newly divorced single mom. Her ex husband cheated on her with her ex best friend (rude) and now she has to start over. Longing to move on with her life she takes a chance and suggests starting a book club with her a few of her new neighbors. This ends up being exactly what the four women needed, friendship and books!
This one is perfect for book clubs
or book besties! I am absolutely going to suggest it for our next book club pick!
This book releases May 7 so mark your calendars! Thank you so much @sheilarobertswriter and @_mira_books for gifting us this copy! I am definitely going to be reading more of Sheila’s books soon!

Karissa is starting over after her ex-husband moves on with her ex-best friend. Their two young daughters are besties but when Macy and Karissa move to another town, the girls are heartbroken. Karissa finds a job at a publishing company and tries to be positive. After meeting her neighbors, Alice who is mourning the loss of her beloved husband and Margot who lost her job and can't seem to find another one they decide to start a book club. Alice invites her snarky sister Josie to join the group, but Josie has an opinion on everything. She is estranged from her daughter because she can't stop her criticism of her son-in-law.
As the friends become closer, they each overcome a struggle and become a family. I really enjoyed this book. I was given an advanced copy by NetGalley and this is my honest review.

Four newfound friends explore life and relationships in their book club. While separately they are facing adversity, together they fuel each other to live their best lives. Filled with the author's renown charm, comedic timing and close-knit friendships, fans and first-time readers will delight in Roberts' antics.

Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for the early edition of #TheBestLifeBookClub in exchange for an honest review. I'm a Sheila Roberts fan as her books always leave me wishing for another serving. Her latest novel, is perfect for taking the bite out of winter's chill or alongside a glass of wine to wind down the evening!

One of Sheila Roberts' best! Karissa is newly divorced, starting fresh in a new town with her young daughter. She has a new job working at a regional publishing company and is attempting to rebuild her self-esteem after being betrayed by both her ex-husband and former best friend. She slowly builds a community of supportive friends and neighbors, including Margot (recently laid off), Alice (a grieving widow), and Alice's sister Josie, who has a chip on her shoulder. The women bond over their book club, and each finds a new chapter of their life unfolding. The book is sweet without being overly predictable, and there are some laughs despite the grief and setbacks the characters endure. Definitely a "comfort food" read. Those who tend to roll their eyes at a "glass half full" viewpoint may find it Pollyanna-ish, but I will recommend it to my library patrons looking for an uplifting read.

Thank you to Net Galley and Harlequin Trade Publishing / MIRA for providing me an advanced review copy in exchange for my opinion. Look for this book on shelves in early May!

Unfortunately this was not for me. The characters and plot were very surface level. All the references to praying made me uncomfortable. I think part of the issue is the generation gap between the author and myself as the reader. Fans of this author’s prior works will probably enjoy it, but as a newcomer to this author, she’s not one I will read again.

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Such a cute, heart warming book! Nothing bad to say about it, the way the writer describes each character makes you want to be their best friend.
