種類2:時間連接詞
時間連接詞用作表達事件的先後次序，讓讀者知道文章架構，使他們易於閱讀。

種類3:並列連接詞
並列連接詞用於連接兩件或以上地位相平， 詞性或句構相同的事物而每者皆有共通點，能讓讀者了解到各者的特點及共通點。

…as well as… | 以及 | As well as writing the script, he directed the film. |
Both … and … . | … 和 … | Both men and women have complained about the advertisement. |

要麼…要麼… | Either you leave now or I call the police! | |
既不是 … 也不是 … | They speak neither Cantonese nor Putonghua, but a strange mixture of the two. | |

種類4:對比及轉折連接詞
對比及轉折連接詞用於強調兩句句子的區別，也用作反襯或突顯主體。突顯兩者相反的特質或事件的轉折。
用來表達前後句子意思不一樣，也許有意義上的轉折。通常用來連接兩句句子，表示相反或相對的意思。

*要記住Although和But不能一起用。有Although沒有But，有But沒有Although。
種類5:比較連接詞
比較連接詞可以用來指出雙方一致的地方，也許突出其中一方的特別之處，通常兩者中有一個是主體，另一個則是比較對象，以比較對象突出主體的特別之處，用作描寫或說明主體為主，讓你的文章更有層次。

種類6:因果連接詞
因果連接詞可以說明前者及後者的因果關係，連接有因果關係的句子。

| so | 所以 | My knee started hurting so I stopped running. |
| thus/ therefore | 因此 | We were unable to get funding and therefore had to abandon the project. |
種類7:條件連接詞
利用條件連接詞可以表達符合一件事才能得到另一件事的關係。

用來闡述論點或者梳理文章脈絡。用來說明兩樣或以上的事物且每樣之間有他們的共通點。通常會用順序排列的方式說明，形成一個層層遞進或者遞降的方式讓讀者瞭解到句子與句子之間的關係。

| To add on | 加上 | She always arrives on time; furthermore. To add on, her work is always excellent. |
種類9:強調連接詞
這種連接詞協助作者强調某些句子，讓讀者比較輕易捕捉作者的思緒。

種類11:總結連接詞
標誌著總結陳述，常用作歸納上述重點，並作出結論。
