The most underrated Steve Jobs movie (because no one can watch the damn thing)
Honestly had no idea this Funny or Die flick was even a thing until delving into Justin's filmography, then discovering that all sources had been completely purged from the internet without any real explanation. Which of course only made me more determined to hunt it down, so here we are.
Filmed and cut together in 5 days, this beta bio of Jobs basically consists of a bunch of skits, highlighting key events of his life based on his book. So akin to watching random Funny or Die YouTube videos; some are hilarious, others try their darnedest to maintain your attention.
I loved the awkward Wozniak team…
Written in 3 days, filmed in 5, and boy does it feel like it. Love me some Paul Rust, though, and he was funny even in this comic wasteland. Sort of like WALK HARD, minus all the things that made WALK HARD wonderful.
Legit one of the greatest works of comedy ever made. Now I see Letterboxd hasn’t been too kindly to this masterpiece, but y’all ain’t on the same comedic wavelength as me. Like how is this not funny to you? Like actually couldn’t stop laughing
Steve Wozniak just sat and stared at Steve Jobs trip on acid for 2 hours and Billy Corgan came up with the iMac
Yeah this was pretty terrible. It's 90% fictitious so I don't understand why it wasn't funnier.
Props for Funny or Die for experimenting with feature-length videos, however it would have been better had they edited it down to 30 mins and tightened up the humour.
iSteve
A biopic produced by the people at “Funny or Die”.
But, I originally saw the review by ‘Sci-Fi Wasabi’ here
Her first line of the review is
“The most underrated Steve Jobs movie (because no one can watch the damn thing)”
apparently this movie has been purged from the internet!
So my quest began for it!
My quest is completed, and my verdict is “it is what it is, and it is funny enough”. 😎
What might have made a humorous Funny or Die short is made atrocious by the fact that the film was stretched to feature length, just so the site can give it the gimmick of being "the first Steve Jobs movie."
I guess one shouldn't expect much when a feature length film is posted for free on a comedy website. At its best, iSteve is more akin to a cheap direct-to-video feature than anything that you will ever expect to see in theatres. However, I do have to say that this is one experiment I hope Funny or Die doesn't try to attempt again.
