Athletics

We take athletics seriously around here. We like to run, jump, hit, dunk, lift, dive, throw and anything else that keeps us active and moving. Mountaineers compete in Division I athletics across 24 programs, as well as two premier sports. And each and every one of us is filled to the top with bona fide, blue and white, busting-at-the-seams Mount Maniac school spirit!

National Rankings

A First Try at ROI: Ranking 4,500 Colleges – Mount in Top 10%

Mount St. Mary’s University ranks in the top 10 percent of colleges and universities nationwide in terms of the long-term earnings for a four-year college degree, according to a new report from the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce (CEW). After 40 years Mount graduates have earned $1,056,000 in net economic gains, ranking 405th of 4,529 colleges and universities in the study.

The National Catholic Register

The National Catholic Register selected Mount St. Mary's University to be featured in its Catholic Identity College Guide 2019. The Guide describes MSMU as "joyfully Catholic" - and basing its findings on essential elements of the renewal of Catholic identity called for by Pope John Paul II's 1990 apostolic constitution on higher education, Ex Corde Ecclesiae, (Out of the Heart of the Church), and other relevant Church documents.

Money - Best Colleges for Your Money (2019)

MONEY analyzed graduation rates, tuition charges, family borrowing, and alumni earnings (plus 22 other data points) to find the country’s top values. Based on this research Money has placed the Mount in its 2019 Best Colleges for Your Money rankings.

Zippia - Best College for Employment in Each State (2018-19)

zippia logoUsing the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), Zippia searched for the college in each state with the highest listed job placement ratings, looking specifically at employment levels at year 10 after students have graduated. Then, they looked at the ratings themselves and ranked each state’s top school according to their rating. The Mount is No. 1 in Maryland and No. 21 out of the 50 states.

Forbes - Grateful Grads Index (2017)

Mount St. Mary's University has made the Forbes Grateful Graduates Index list for 2017. This metric ranks private not-for-profit colleges with more than 1,000 students by analyzing two important variables: median private donations and gifts per student over 10 years, as reported to the Department of Education; and the Alumni Participation Rate, or the percentage of graduates that give back in the form of donations to their colleges each year-- regardless of the dollar amount.
