A new British film company dedicated entirely to the making of Christian feature films launched earlier this week.

Albion Productions is the first British Christian feature film production company and is hoping to win the support of the UK Christian community in its mission to spread the message of Jesus Christ around the world.

As an Enterprise Investment Scheme ( EIS ) company, Albion is currently seeking investors to produce its first title Darkness into Light - the modern story of a man who goes on a quest to find the truth behind resurrection.

Founded by film producers David Fairman and Jon-Paul Gates, Albion Productions already has a very strong interest from a major Hollywood company, Hannibal Pictures, and support from leading Christians.

Darkness into Light has now received letters of support from Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, Archbishop of Westminister, the Bishop of Bath and Wells, the Rt Rev Peter Price, the Bishop of Bristol, the Rt Rev Michael Hill, and the Bishop of Ripon and Leeds, the Rt Rev John Parker.

Director David Fairman said that investors would not only help to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world but 10 per cent of the film's profits will go to Frishta - a Christian charity which builds orphanages for Indian street children.

"Films are an ideal way to reach the whole community. Many people won't attend church but you can reveal the Gospel to them in the cinema or through watching a DVD at home. The incredible success of films such as the Passion of the Christ and Narnia show that Christian films can and do reach out to everyone."
