Actor and creator Nidhi Bisht, who became a household name after featuring in multiple TVF series such as Permanent Roommates and Tripling among more, will soon be seen playing a pivotal role in Netflix series, Maamla Legal Hai. In an interaction with IndiaToday.in, Nidhi opened up about the show, practising law before venturing into acting and more.

When asked about how she finally felt playing a lawyer onscreen after practising and studying it for multiple years, Nidhi said, "When I studied law, I was practising in Delhi high court. I was working in a law firm as an associate, and then I moved to Mumbai to make a career in acting. So, when Poshampa Pictures reached out to me, I was like, 'so they also know I have studied law and practised a bit.'"

"But when I read the script, I only got anxious, that I didn't really know anything about this world. Mehnat karni padegi (I would have to work hard). The world of district court is so different. And my character is the one who sits outside these courts. Her legal knowledge is not that great. So it was a surreal experience, it was a full circle thing for me," said Nidhi.

Rahul Pandey, director of Maamla Legal Hai, added that Nidhi has done a great job playing the role of Sujata Negi: "Nidhi is Foyer ki Salman Khan," he said lightly, referring to the actor's profession in the show.

Rahul shared details about the series and said that while each episode tackles a different case, all the characters are moving towards one goalpost in the end: "It is not a courtroom drama, it is a court premise drama. Every episode has an interesting, bizarre case. Every episode has a different case, and they are all going towards a goal."

The trailer of Netflix's Maamla Legal Hai takes one back to the bylanes of East Delhi. When asked if the shoot was done in live locations, director Rahul Pandey shared, "Except the outdoor location, everything else is set. I wanted everything to appear realistic, including the characters. We did a workshop to prep for the same, because this is not one of those stories for which you can directly land on to the set without having done your homework."

Nidhi, who is both a creator and an actor, also spoke about which job she prefers more: "I enjoy acting the most, it is a very freeing experience. I am primarily a performer. Although I enjoy doing everything if I am getting the money for it (laughs)."

Also starring Ravi Kishan, Yashpal Sharma, Tanvi Azmi among others, Maamla Legal Hai will start streaming on Netflix from March 1.
