P.J. Washington attended Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas before transferring to Findlay Prep in Nevada. He was a five-star recruit and No.12 overall in the class of 2017. Washington committed to play at the University of Kentucky, where he played two seasons and averaged 12.9 points per game before being drafted 12th overall in 2019 by the Charlotte Hornets.
P.J. was named to the 2020 All-Rookie Second Team with 12.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in his rookie season. In the three seasons since Washington had his best statistical season in the 22-23 season when he averaged 15.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
