The best part about El Camino is the diversity, this leads too many new friendships we can bond with people who have different cultures. El Camino offers so many activities for students to participate in such as ASB, sports, cheer, dance, band, etc. We have so many teachers who are willing to open up to us and create bonds with us and they want us to succeed. Our school has more opportunities then other neighboring schools, we offer more with academics and sports wise.
Overall my experience in El Camino High has been great. Our campus is big and pretty clean. There are so many hard working staff members and there are many efforts to make our school a better place. Most of the teachers here are really cool and have good relationships with their students. They offer a lot of tutoring and help if needed. There is also an organization called Gear Up that helps with tutoring and applications to scholarships, FASFA, and college. Our school does a great job preparing us for our future and giving us plenty of resources to help guide us. There are also so many clubs; from community service and academic clubs to clubs where you can meet others with the same hobbies. I also like the football games at our school. There’s a lot of school spirit and our cheerleading and football teams are very competitive. In fact, school offers a variety of sports. I’ve seen many creative and talented students at our school and there’s always a place for everyone here.
This school is really organized and really cares for their students. It has an amazing Gear Up program that gives students amazing opportunities, like free college tours, help with college/FAFSA application and a lot more.
School could use some work, especially a ademics and overall college readiness for students, no one knows how to get into college only if you have avid classes, other than that no one knows anything on college
I love El Camino high school, I’ll never forget all the fun memories and people I have met there. The best part of El Camino is the sports they have available for students even if you’ve never played the sport before.
El Camino high school was a great experience for me. The best part was seeing everyone from MLK and getting to grow with fellow school mates. I enjoyed the football games and friendships made along the way. The worst parts were the more realistic aspects. Everyone was changing and many friends also became different. You gained and lost plenty of friendships.
Throughout my 4 years here I have met so many new people from different cultures and backgrounds. Which is one of the. Things I like most about going to school at El Camino. Overall my peers are extremely friendly and have made it feel like a safe environment. The staff at my school are great as well, they always make you feel seen and heard. They are always there if you were to ever need anyone. One thing that I’d change is just the school spirit, I feel like there’s not much school spirit as people try to gain. But I believe it just an age thing, where we try to act “too cool” for spirit days. Overall, I enjoyed my time at El Camino and I would recommend someone else to go here.
With my school I have such a great experience. There is such a a great community of staff and students and I always feel comfortable while on campus. At my school I am in the dance program but we also have many more sports and activities going on which makes the campus a funner place and a great place to grow and learn.
El Camino is best described as "okay". The teachers are pretty dedicated to their job which is nice. Our ASB honestly really sucks at including all different kinds of students. It's very cliquey and because they run all events, they prioritise their group above all other students. The food is free which is nice but beyond that it's sort of meh. There are some lunch items that are mostly good but not all of it. They do keep some items around constantly so there is variety. Sometimes the work can be a little overwhelming but its usually pretty manageable if you keep up with it. I honestly rarely see the school do things that are made to include parents so. The bathrooms are not great. A lot of them are dirty and trashed often. Vaping is kind of a problem on campus. The college readiness isn't the best but as long as you have an adult in your life whose willing to guide you, you'll be fine. One thing we do have is diversity and a manageable schedule. Our sports and music departments rock.
I love the community and culture of the school. I’ve grown up in this town my whole life so I never realized how lucky I was to live in such a diverse environment until other people pointed it out. Although with that diversity comes some differences so there is some violence at my school but nothing that’s ever been a real threat or problem.
For the most part, I enjoy my time at El Camino. The staff and faculty are kind and helpful. However, the only issue is the growing amount of students that vape in the school bathrooms and the large amount of students that litter on the campus. Overall, I feel safe at the school, but I wish some of the students had more respect for the environment around them and themselves.
Overall my experience with El Camino was pretty good! I've met some great teachers, friends and people there and they definitely helped me grow as a person during my four years there. Some negative aspects of my experience would be the lack of communication going on between the staff and students if a heffy situation occured, I usually wouldn't hear about what happened until the word got out among the students. Also the campus (in my opinion at least) could be divisive at times, people being in groups (especially by culture or ethnic background) and not always getting along with people different from them. Moreover another positive aspect of the school would be how many activities and clubs there are on campus, there's truly something for everyone! I never realized how many things we had until I got the yearbook my senior year. Theres also many great teachers on campus which are also very popular with the students so your bond to find someone you like as a teacher there :)
It was a nice environment, I met some amazing people I do not regret meeting and, of course, I met some of my favorites teachers. I have a few very good memories or experiences while I was studying at EC. I had this math teacher which I did not understand his way of teaching, so I went to another teacher that was teaching the same class and asked her to explain me how it was to be done (I need to mention I had never met this teacher before but she took some time after school this teach this kid who she had never met before) with time I improved and got better grades and also I begin understanding my teacher’s way of teaching (I had that teacher for two years and I believe the lowest grade I had was a B). Now talking about sour/bad experiences, I do not have many to share, some or them include fights between kids (I’m not surprise) but I need to mention this wasn’t something that would happen all the time. Overall EC is a very nice school that I enjoyed very much and would back again.
I loved the atmosphere of the school, the students, teachers, and faculty members made the school’s atmosphere unique. It was a place where I felt comfortable and confident to be myself without any need of feeling insecure or worried. The teacher always made sure that the students felt safe and understood, they never left the students feeling less of themselves for not understanding a specific topic. My most memorable experience at El Camino High School was joining the clubs whether it was Interact Club, Key Club, or AVID Club, you felt like you belonged and the people would always have a smile on their face ready to serve. I would like to see more involvement in the community, for instance, more car shows. It made the bonding with students, teachers, and the outside community stronger.
The teachers are all great and there are many clubs, sports, and classes that this school provides. The staff are very understanding of the issues students grow up with. But experiences depend on how you want to see things. There is a big vaping, alcohol, and drug issue whenever I go to a bathroom it is filled with people vaping, and whenever I take the bus there will be people openly smoking weed or vaping. The bathrooms in some of the buildings are locked up after a couple of hours in the day to prevent people hiding in there to have sex or do drugs. But if you find the right people it makes your experience at this school amazing, there is a lot of effort put into the school spirt and there are a lot of fun clubs, classes, and other extracurriculars. Gear Up is a program offered to the students, but mainly to the class of 2024 and 2025, which is unfair to the previous years and those after, but they still provide services to everyone and the sports program is really good.
The school overall is average. The facilities are huge, one of the largest high school campuses I've seen. However, it is not maintained to the top condition. On the other hand, resources for learning are outstanding. There is a large number of resources available for students.
My school is a pretty good school, the campus is nice and big and the students that go are not so bad, but the things I would like to see better is planning from our schools ASB. This year their planning was not so great compared to last year and what it is going to be next year, also they school bathrooms could be a lot better
