Man confesses to stabbing, killing wife, 2 kids

MANILA, Philippines — The murder of a woman and her two children in Barangay Pupua in Catbalogan, Samar on Aug. 30 has taken a new twist after her partner and father of the victims confessed to the killing.

Edito Candiz surrendered to the police on Thursday.

Rhea Orio, 26; her daughter, Rina, 3, and her five-month-old son were found dead at their house. Candes, who said he found the bodies which bore multiple stab wounds, reported the incident to the police.

Candes said he killed his partner out of jealousy as he suspected that she was having an affair. He said he did not intend to kill his children.

Aside from admitting the murder of his partner and children, Candes said he also killed Orio’s father in 2021.
