And any review would be remiss if it didn't praise the writers skills. EE Holmes is one of the best writers I have read in years.

Well written with an interesting plot, I could have read many more books with these characters.
This is a complex series lots happen, there are lots of main characters,Eliza and Eli are the two main but we don't follow the journey in there heads (I wished) I think it would of been better but then that is my favourite choice of reading a story
What happened to teddy? Did he marry sadie,I was unsure (would of loved to know what he written in the letters) thought at the end of battle,it would of been nice to see (maybe jasper step in) a conversation teddy was a coward he claimed to love her but happly let her go with a Morgan who he knew was not good. I did think the ending was a little rushed was it 7 years later? How old was oliver? More detail would of been better maybe a conversation about his birthday (so we get his age)
But all in all a good read kind of sad it's over,it's not a romantic novel it's focused on fighting for a better world in a corrupt one set back in old times but with magic so a supernatural read.but with a very interesting storyline and original (not easy to be original in supernatural reads)
