Star Trek: The Original Series legend Walter Koenig begins reviewing his classic episodes on The 7th Rule podcast in February, and his co-hosts, Cirroc Lofton and Ryan T. Husk, preview what to expect. Koenig played Ensign Pavel Chekov in Star Trek: The Original Series seasons 2 and 3, and he reprised Chekov in 7 Star Trek movies. On The 7th Rule, Koenig will review his TOS episodes starting with season 2. The first 2 episodes of Walter Koenig on The 7th Rule will premiere during Virtual Trek Con 5 on the week of February 15-19, and those episodes will revisit Star Trek's original unaired pilot, "The Cage," and "Amok Time," Star Trek: TOS' season 2 premiere, which was Koenig's first appearance as Mr. Chekov.

In an upcoming interview with Screen Rant with Cirroc Lofton, Ryan T. Husk, and Malissa Longo to celebrate the five-year anniversary of The 7th Rule podcast, Cirroc and Ryan discuss how "great" it's been having Walter Koenig as part of the show reviewing Star Trek: The Original Series. Check out their quotes below previewing the funny moments from Walter Koenig to expect from The 7th Rule:

Ryan T. Husk: Walter... I don't know how [he can be] 87 years old, and still be the funniest guy in the room. And the sharpest guy in the room. So he's fun. He's funny. He's sharp. And what's great about him is, and I don't know if he was always like this, or if some people, when they reach a certain age, they reach that 'I don't give a F' age, you know? So he won't pull any punches. He will razz you. And he will make jokes. And you're like, 'Wow, where did that come from?' He's so good at just being the funniest guy in the room and just going for it and having fun. It's been amazing. It's been completely... great. That's a quote for you.

Cirroc Lofton: Walter is the best at sarcasm. He's really good at deadpanning you and giving you false information, and seeing how long it takes you to figure it out. He's very good at that. And so you have to be on your toes with it. Like, are you telling me the truth right now or...? You have to really question it. And then, I can't believe how much he has in his mental database. At his age, he's bringing up stuff... like, we'll watch an episode, and he'll be like, 'No, her last name is Breyer, and actually, before she got married, her acting stage name was that, but it's really some other name...' And then you're like, Okay.' And he's like, 'And she and I did this that day back [when] we were an acting class. No hanky panky.'

Ryan T. Husk: Actually, ["Amok Time"] I think is the one... Which one was it that we did where he does mention some hanky panky stuff?

Cirroc Lofton: There was a little bit. But just the fact that he has this clarity of memory. He remembers the time, he remembers that person's name, he remembers their maiden name, he remembers the acting classes they did or the movie they did together, or whatever play they worked on. This is stuff that happened 50 or 60 years ago, and it just comes to the top of his memory like this. He is sharp. And Walter only pretends in some ways to miss a step. So when he's missing a step, it's only because he's pretending to. He's throwing you off, because he's actually with it the whole time. And that's one of the things that you're impressed and marvel about, how he's able to just recall so many things so instantly. So yeah, I'm looking forward to the journey with Walter and going over these episodes. I know he's starting to get comfortable. And the more comfort level you get, the more people loosen up, and they start giving you better stories. So I think Walter is just getting started.

Walter Koenig on The 7th Rule reviewing Star Trek's original pilot, "The Cage," is part of Virtual Trek Con 5's theme of celebrating 60 years of Star Trek in 2024, since "The Cage" began filming in 1964 soon after NBC gave Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek the green light.

DS9 & TOS actors are reviewing Star Trek together

Walter Koenig on The 7th Rule marks the first time he will watch and share his memories and opinions of his classic Star Trek: The Original Series episodes, but there's another cool element to the podcast: Cirroc Lofton also hasn't seen Koenig's Star Trek episodes. Lofton played Jake Sisko on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, but his previous Star Trek knowledge was limited before hosting The 7th Rule truly ignited his love of Star Trek. Lofton is also currently reviewing Star Trek: The Next Generation, which featured Denise Crosby as co-host for TNG season 1, and watching The Next Generation for The 7th Rule is also a new experience for Cirroc.

Since most of the cast of Star Trek: The Original Series has, sadly, passed away, Walter Koenig becomes the only Star Trek actor from the 1960s series that started it all to review his old episodes on a weekly podcast. Koenig has lamented how limited the roles were for Star Trek: TOS' supporting characters like Chekov, Scotty (James Doohan), Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), and Sulu (George Takei), which were treated strictly as supporting roles. The 7th Rule allows Walter Koenig to have his say about all aspects of Star Trek: The Original Series, and it sounds like Koenig remembers his time on the USS Enterprise like it was yesterday.
