PAGASA Says Amihan to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the northeast monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Monday (January 22, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that the northeast monsoon will bring light rains over parts of Luzon as well as some areas in Visayas.

The monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Apayao, Batanes, and Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands.

“Patuloy ang epekto ng northeast monsoon o hanging amihan at inaasahan natin lalo na sa mga susunod na araw ay…lalakas pa itong hanging amihan na maaaring makakaapekto hindi lamang sa Luzon at maaari ring umabot hanggang sa kabisayaan,” Badrina explained.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), and the rest of Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country.

The weather agency advised the public of possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be rough. The remaining parts of the country will have moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.

A Gale warning was raised over the coastal areas of Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur.

Badrina said the agency is not monitoring any low-pressure area forming within the Philippine area of responsibility.
