We stayed for one night while friends were in town visiting. The location is ideal being right off I-380 and near several restaurants. The lobby staff, breakfast attendants and housekeeping were all friendly and welcoming. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable with nice amenities. My only concern was the pool area. Only one area of lights was working, so it was rather dark in the room. The pool itself was ample size and has a whirlpool, but felt it could use some upkeep. There was paint chipping off around the sides and there was a strong chlorine smell. The two dehumidifiers were not working (or full), so perhaps that was the issue. We did enjoy our time nonetheless.

I booked the two bedroom suite and it was basically a small apartment, which was awesome. The beds were comfy and the room was clean. We didn't get to use the pool because it was still closed for the pandemic. As expected, the grab and go breakfast was disappointing and I'll be glad when hotels start offering hot breakfasts again.

I was here for a week of work travel. I like choosing Residence Inns for the kitchen area so I can eat healthy while away from home. Room was clean, quiet and standard residence inn style. You can hear traffic from highway but I travel with a noisemaker and I was bothered by it. Gym had 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical and free weights. It’s fine until someone else comes in. 4 out of 5 stars, I’ve been at other residence inns that have had much better gyms.

This hotel is ok, but just barely. Everything seems old and out-of-date. Carpet stained, cheapest, thinnest toilet paper, shampoo/conditioner missing or half empty, no lotion or other amenities. The kitchen had 4 plates, 4 forks, 4 spoons, 1 knife. Just enough, but we had to wash a lot of dishes. No pans to use with the oven. Table legs wobbly and almost broken. TV was weird and kept announcing the volume. We were able to “sign in” to Netflix but needed to sign in again every time we turned the TV off and on again. Sleeper sofa stained and old and uncomfortable. We needed to make it ourselves. No maid service (probably due to Covid?). The breakfast super minimal and done at 8:30! on weekends. All the prepackaged food tastes pretty terrible.

The staff was nice and friendly and we enjoyed the room design with 2 bedrooms and a middle living room/kitchen area. No obvious uncleaned areas.

I understand that the pandemic has required some changes, but there are some things that cannot be blamed on COVID anymore. On weekends, breakfast should be offered later. Info in all the rooms say 7am-10am on weekends, but all breakfast was taken out promptly at 8:30. Explanation given was COVID. Still zero access to fitness center or pool. There was insufficient parking, so we had to park on a nearby gravel road they called “overflow parking”. Front desk staff would disappear for long periods of time, so you had to wait for service.

The room was clean and spacious enough which is why I didn’t give a 1-star rating. This experience was very different from other stays at Residence Inn, which are usually very positive.

Thank you for staying with us, we truly do value your business. I am glad you found the room to fit your needs. Yes with COVID there are still some challenges we face at the hotel due to size of the breakfast area we are not opening just yet. You are able to go in the fitness it has always been open. Pool is still closed due to mechanical issues that we have been facing and it is not safe to let anyone in there just yet. I agree with the parking that it is not good, when they built the hotel 24 years ago I am not sure why they only made 66 spaces for 66 rooms seems silly to me that they didn't think of making a few more spaces. Thank you again for staying with us.

The tub caulking had a lot of mold. The black out curtains had large holes. The side doors did not lock and were not secure.
I saw the breakfast attendant take out trash with gloves on and then came back inside and touched food with the same gloves.
The Yogurt/oatmeal toppings did not have spoons or anything for us to scoop them out. I told the housekeeper we were going to the pool and once we were out of the room we would remove the DND and I had asked to not enter the room until then. We come back to the room to see the housekeeper in our room, and she had the door propped open while our belongings were in the room and she said she thought maybe we were staying another night, So why ignore the DND if you thought we were staying again? They do not care about safety or privacy at all. There are much better places to stay in Cedar Rapids.

We just checked in and this is what we found. First, the person checking us in wasn’t even wearing her mask correctly and touched her nose multiple times. Also, the bed lamp is missing and the outlet doesn’t work; next there is hair (not mine!) everywhere. There is hair on the toilet, the shower, the soap dish is full of shaved facial hair, and the sink. I literally have to clean the bathroom to use it. I would typically leave the hotel running, but I’m stuck here because we are 5 hours from home. I’ve requested a different room and they are all booked. They assured me that I won’t be charged for the missing/broken bedside lamp/outlet 🤦‍♀️. I’m usually very found of Marriott hotels, but this one doesn’t meet any of the Marriott standards. Marriott has a commitment to cleanliness on there website due to Covid-19. This hotel doesn’t even meet the normal standards of cleanliness. I will never stay here again!

We spent the night here before an event we had 30 miles away. I will start with the positive, The front desk staff was super friendly. The room was fairly clean. ( thankfully) This hotel is VERY dated. The carpets are stained, the tile floors are cracked, the furniture is so old and visibly worn. The tub was scraped and and the caulk was pulling away from the tile. Marriott should NOT be charging 20,000 points for this property!! I have stayed in much newer nicer Marriotts for less points! The pool was closed indefinitely although it was full of water and looked functional. Not sure why I was charged full points when not able to use the amenities. One of the carts available to move your luggages was visibly falling a part and was a safety hazard. I would not recommend this hotel unless they totally remodel it.

This hotel needs to be closed and remodeled. When we checked in, we found the following issues in the room. It was a two bedroom unit and in two of the three rooms the smoke detectors were missing, brackets were present but that was it. A cracked window was sealed with duct tape. A bedroom light was bare and missing the lampshade. This unit had three TV's and not one of them actually had any cable signal. When we walked out to the car, the second floor hallway smells like smoke, and the first floor hallway smells like urine. Many of these comments are in other reviews, and they are completely accurate. We only stayed here because if was part of a baseball tournament.

Easily the most disgusting, worn down Marriott branded hotel I’ve ever stayed in. When staying in a hotel I know not to look too closely at cleanliness, but this was so horrific even a quick glance was enough to know this place hadn’t had a deep clean/update since it was built in the 80s. Checked in to the room with a clogged, full toilet of #2 from the previous guest. The oven/microwave had never seen as much as a damp rag. Peeling paint and wallpaper, multiple cigarette burns in the carpet, missing fire alarm, the thickest layer of dust on any flat surface you could see. If it weren’t for traveling with two dogs and unpacking a majority of our things already we would’ve immediately left and continued on our trip, and that’s after already driving for 10+ hours. Avoid this cesspool of a hotel at all costs, wouldn’t stay here again if you paid me.
