- Graduation gift
Both discs have so much surface noise and Disc 2 was warped
Target usually has decent exclusives but this one is just awful - Probably my favorite vinyl I own! Definitely will be played nonstop this fall season. No issues with my LPs.
- I put the needle down on disc 1 side A and was a little startled at the windy rumbling sound before the overture. It is notable. I really didn't know what to expect but I was surprised. The music sounds good and I really don't notice it when the music is actually playing, but this was one of the first albums where I consciously noticed surface noise, and I own an ET picture disc. :)
The album design is very nice with a matte finish, and I got a Zero inner sleeve.
If you buy this don't enter into it as an audiophile expecting a drop dead silent copy of the album. - Mine doesn’t have any surface noise once i get rid of the static and i cleaned it properly! Got mine at barns and nobles.
- Bagged a used copy of this from Amazon Warehouse with the 3rd set of IDs on here. The disks look well scuffed and the last songs on sides B & C each have a skip. Anyone else’s copy the same?
- As another commenter mentioned, I think there may be a new edition of this record. My copy has Zero instead of Oogie Boogie. I will say that my copy is fantastic-- it has the best playback of any picture disc I've ever owned (which to be fair is a pretty low bar). It does have some light surface noise, but it's minimal and only during some sections.
The zoetrope animation is really neat too! Its probably not a great audiophile edition, but if you want a version with beautiful sleeves and a pretty pressing, this one is great without sacrificing too much audio quality. - Edited 4 months agoJust bought this at Target. I think it may be a new version. On the inner sleeve for the first disc, there is a picture of Zero instead of Oogie Boogie.
It sounds good for a picture disc. Some surface noise, but not bad. The zoetrope effect is really good. There is a trick to it though.
Most people use ilumiscope for iphone, but I have an android which doesn't seem to have a similar app to record video. After much digging, I found something that works (at least on Samsung phones). On the camera app, go to pro video mode and set the speed to 1/500. Use these settings to look at the disc with your phone. Works really well, and you can record a video. - Picked this up used. Noisy as hell even after a wet cleaning. Looks clean and mint to the naked eye but nearly unlistenable since it's quite quiet (and the music is somewhat sparse throughout).

even for a 30 year old cassette, it sounds great! glad to have this in my collection- Absolument superbe, rien à jeter dans cette bo. Les versions dérivés et les demos sont des bonus intéressants
