Alexis Nedd Mashable School of Chocolate's focus on positive growth while still encouraging competition doesn't make for the most dramatic cooking show on TV, but it does set a new standard that future competitions should emulate. Jan 31, 2022 Full Review Andy Dehnart Reality Blurred School of Chocolate respects its cast's talent and host's skill, and admirably centers actual learning, which make its attempts to inject drama seem like filling a chocolate bunny with lime juice: unfortunate and unnecessary. Rated: B+ Jan 31, 2022 Full Review Chelsea Steiner The Mary Sue If you're looking for your next feel-good reality series, School of Chocolate is IT. Dec 9, 2021 Full Review Marty Brown Common Sense Media The personalities, challenges, and collaborations will still give fans of reality competitions plenty to latch onto, but by focusing on craft and progress, School of Chocolate has found a way to harness the positivity... Rated: 4/5 Dec 1, 2021 Full Review Joel Keller Decider While some of the chocolate art... is remarkable, the show itself is poorly structured and not designed to sustain a building sense of competition as the season goes along. Nicks H Netflix truly had a golden nugget with this reality competition. The creativity provided by the competitors was astronomical. The head-chef/chocolate-artist was a true visionary. I've never witnessed a truly GREAT competition show like this on Netflix, ever! They better bring this show back for a Season 2 (or) it'll truly be a lost opportunity on the streaming platforms end. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/26/23 Full Review Nick S This series is not the normal cooking show. It is beautiful, kind, instructive, and exciting. If you like cooking shows this is not one to miss. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/02/23 Full Review leanne p Love how the host is helpful instead of overly critical of the contestants. Chef Guichon shows everyone respect while maintaining high standards. He truly tries to help everyone be their best. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Tanya B I loved it! Chef Amaury Guichon was an outstanding instructor. He demonstrated his excellent skills and knowledge on every task. Best of all, he was a true teacher not a critic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/11/22 Full Review jay q If not for the subject matter, I'd rate this lower... but I *love* chocolate, so seeing the tricks of the trade was cool. However, I don't like the way this show plays up egos and conflicts -- makes it feel more like The Real Housewives than other Netflix competition shows (e.g., Blown Away, Glow Up, Is It Cake, etc.). And chef Amaury is not a good host. He obviously is a master of his craft, but he has a very flat affect and isn't very engaging. It'd be better to have someone with personality host the proceedings and leave the chef to merely coach/critique the contestants. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Loved it! Really hoping for another season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
