Voter Registration

RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF MILFORD & NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY OWNERS ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN CITY ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS 


Every person who resides within the City of Milford boundaries for at least 30 days prior to the date of the election, or natural persons owning property within the City of Milford at least 30 days prior to the date of the election, who are over the age of 18 years, and a citizen of the United States shall be entitled to one vote at said annual City election or referendum. A non-resident property owner is eligible to vote only if the property is titled in that individual’s name.

Voter registration at least 30 days prior to a municipal election through the State of Delaware or Kent County or Sussex County Department of Elections does qualify you to vote in a City of Milford election or referendum.  Residents who need to register to vote must contact the Department of Elections – Sussex County Office at 302-856-5367.  Registration can also be completed online.

Non-Resident Property Owners who are eligible to vote must have registered through Milford City Hall. Eligible Non-Residents, who own property in more than one ward, must declare the ward they wish to vote in on the day of the election at least 30 days prior to an election.  To register, please call the City Clerk’s Office at 302-422-1111 Ext 1300 or 1303.  Applicants are required to present verification of identity and residence and/or proof of ownership of property.

ONLY STATE OF DELAWARE REGISTERED VOTERS residing within the City of Milford, OR ELIGIBLE NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY OWNERS, whose property is deeded in their individual name, and has registered thru Milford City Hall, WILL BE PERMITTED TO VOTE IN AN ELECTION.
