I know many Brazilian guys are not used to Rio Funk as a major interest unless they are into low tier musical experiences (Funk is much related to low class mannerisms). But, uh, guess what: as a non brazilian I find out this musical combination pretty much interesting. Rio Funk makes the whole album a rare mix of a dancing acolade trough electronical and tropical alternatives (besides the bizarre intro and outro with trash metal add-ons). Brazil celebrates Funk as Angola does with Kuduro aswell and I personally believe that there´s nothing good to rejoice into national product than experimenting with it.
It´s fun, catchy and mostly ironic. I must say that lyrical work troughout the whole Bonde Do Role´s discography might not be the greatest thing ever (probably the reason why Brazilians don´t actually dig their music). Plus, much of the whole album gets somehow annoying as the funk element repeats in the same way.
Found out FIFA 2007 videogame soundtrack included Solta o Frango in it. Good choice, I might say.

Bonde do Rolê make me feel exactly like Lady Sovereign: they're lots of fun, but fun on the verge of being annoying.

Took me awhile to figure out if I even liked this or not. It's certainly intriguing. All in all, an enjoyable challenge of a listen.

If I knew Portugese it would be higher.

I really can't understand why anyone likes this album.
I got it from Rough Trade over the summer and have regretted it ever since. Everything just seems wrong with it, timing, tuning, songs... You almost have to feel sorry for Domino for getting it so incredibly wrong. It's almost as if they heard about Cansei De Ser Sexy and thought, "we need one of these" (referring to South American bands), flew down to Brazil, got drunk and signed the band playing in the local club. Would probably sound ok if you were utterly plastered and had been knocked around a bit.
Leave it on the shop shelf, trust me.
