Star Wars: Tales of the Empire – Episode 6 Recap, Review & Ending Explained

Why are the parents fleeing?

Episode 6 of Tales of the Empire picks up six years after Barris Offee’s clash with Lyn Rakish, also known as the Fourth Sister. Now, along with other Jedi, Barris is being hunted like dogs for betraying the Empire. The episode begins with a couple seeking someone known as “the healer.”

They are fleeing from the Empire because their newborn is Force-sensitive. Knowing the Empire eliminates anyone connected to the Force, the parents have no choice but to seek shelter on a distant planet beyond the Empire’s reach.

Soon, we find out that “the healer” is actually Barriss Offee, a Jedi. She shares her story with her parents, explaining how she was once a Jedi but fell to the dark side and, after many years, how she rediscovered her true self.

Barriss tells the couple that their child is special, but in these dark times, having powers can be more of a curse than a talent. As Barriss is informed of a stranger approaching, she asks her followers to lead the couple and their child to safety.

Was Lyn Rakis Able to Find Her Way Out?

The stranger turns out to be Lyn Rakish, the Fourth Sister, sent by the Empire to capture the child. Lyn attacks Barriss, but Barriss, refusing to draw her lightsaber, dodges all the attacks. She even taunts Lyn, saying that predicting her moves is easy because anger has clouded Lyn’s judgment.

Lyn demands that Barriss step aside, but Barriss warns her not to enter the cave or she’ll meet her end. Ignoring the warning, Lyn enters and quickly becomes lost in the maze-like cave. Barriss comes to her rescue and offers a deal that if Lyn lays down her weapon, Barriss will guide her out.

Lyn, in a fit of anger, swings her sword and accidentally impales Barriss. With her last breath, Barriss forgives Lyn and requests her to find her true self, to forge her own path instead of following the Empire’s. Realizing her mistakes, Lyn decides to abandon her role as an Inquisitor.

The episode closes as Lyn exits from the cave, carrying Barriss’ body.

The Episode Review

The episode can be summed up with the quote, “Great leaders inspire greatness in others.” Barris Offee lost her way when she betrayed the Jedi Order and joined forces with the Empire.

However, she eventually saw the light after witnessing the Empire’s atrocities across the galaxy to maintain control. She cut all ties with the Empire and went into hiding, secretly aiding the Jedi in finding safe havens away from the Empire’s grasp.

Years later, she crossed paths with Lyn Rakis, the fourth sister, and sacrificed her life to help Rakis turn away from the dark side. Now that Rakis is free from the darkness that clouded her judgment, she will carry on Barris Offee’s legacy of aiding the Jedi.
