IN HOMAGE: Robbie Williams-themed performance part of Watford Fringe line-up

Published on: 7th May 2024   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

A performance dedicated to Robbie Williams is part of this year’s line-up at the Watford Fringe.

With Robbie Williams at 50, Watford-based songwriter Jonny Brick is taking part in this year’s Watford Fringe, which promises to be the biggest yet with more performers, more venues and an extended month-long summer run.

Jonny puts on a Fringe show every year championing one of his predecessors.

Jonny said: “With a biopic coming later this year, and with the Netflix documentary reminding everyone why Robbie Williams is so beloved, I thought it would be a good idea to make my WatFringe24 show about Rob, who actually calls himself the frontman of the band called Robbie Williams.

“I’ve already celebrated Bob Dylan, Garth Brooks and George Michael, and I think Rob should be placed in the same category: a songwriter, a performer and a troubled soul.

“I’ll be mixing biography, factoids and the songs themselves, which as ever I’ll be performing with my guitar. It’ll be just like his Knebworth show but in the much more intimate Barn, which has a car park across the road rather than in a neighbouring field.”

Every year, venues across Watford host an extraordinary live line-up of great, affordable theatre, music, comedy, dance, magic and family fun-filled shows. This year’s festival, co-ordinated by the Watford Pump House and supported by Watford Borough Council, is taking place in outdoor and indoor venues across Watford between July 1 and August 3.

Jonny will be performing at The Barn at 6pm on July 19 and 20. Tickets cost £5 and can be found at watfringe.co.uk/events/robbie-williams-at-50
