The things I enjoy the most about Exeter are its history and culture. My mother and aunt both went to Exeter, and now I go there, so I've seen firsthand how long-lasting and meaningful our school traditions are. It's so fascinating and fun to hear stories and see pictures from my mom and aunt's time in high school and how it was then compared to now. I was very involved in the music department at Exeter, and I am very grateful to have had that. However, I feel like Exeter profits off the talents of their students and it is seen as the school making them that way. In reality, it is private lessons/study that made them that way. This goes for all departments. It is just more prevalent in music. Also, despite what it seems like on the surface, mental health is the last priority. The attitude here is very much: "nobody cares as long as your grades are high." Students are very prone to burnout and poor mental health here. IEPs and special education programs need improvement as well.
Overall, I would say that being at Exeter is a pleasent experience. There are definitely some more negative aspects of being here, such as the traffic patterns, but there are also some positives, like the teachers. One of my least favorite aspects of being at Exeter is the complete lack of school spirit.
I had a very good experience at this High School. The best parts were the friends I've made, the teachers, and the soccer team. I honestly haven't had any bad parts. Some things I would like to see change are for the teachers to be more personal with each student.
