App State Athletics is excited to welcome fans, friends, opponents and visitors to Kidd Brewer Stadium in 2023. We aim to make your experience at The Rock an enjoyable one. This A-to-Z Fan Guide is designed to assist you in your preparation for attending our beautiful stadium and cheering on the nationally recognized Mountaineers. Arrive early, stay late, be loud and be respectful.

Accessibility

Beer
  • Beer is sold at a variety of locations throughout the stadium through the end of the third quarter.
  • Per NC law, all patrons of legal drinking age are permitted to purchase a maximum of two alcoholic beverages per valid ID for each transaction.
  • Patrons will not be permitted to leave the stadium with alcohol purchased within the venue.
  • All beer is $10 per can except for App State’s new official craft beer, Mountain Brew, which is $8.


Cellular service enhancement

  • With App State’s installation of new cellular phone service boosters throughout Kidd Brewer Stadium, T-Mobile has committed to helping its customers who attend games at The Rock.

Clear Bag Policy
  • Kidd Brewer Stadium has employed a clear bag policy since 2017, intended to enhance patron safety and expedite stadium entry by reducing the time required searching bags at stadium gates. The policy aligns with clear bag policies from other NCAA FBS institutions and the National Football League.
  • Approved bags include clear plastic bags that do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” and small clutch purses no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”.
  • Bags that are not approved include diaper bags, backpacks, binocular cases, camera cases, tinted or printed pattern plastic bags, fanny packs, oversized tote bags & mesh bags, and purses exceeding 4.5” x 6.5”.
Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at Kidd Brewer Stadium entrances.


Concerts

  • Pregame concerts will take place on the Jerry Moore Plaza outside the north end zone for at least three games this fall, including a Commodore Fox concert before the Sept. 16 game vs. ECU.


Concessions

  • This fall’s concessions offer many points of sale and a menu designed to create faster lines.
  • Concessions stands take cash and card, with a dedicated cash-only lane at each main concessions stand on the East and West concourse.
  • A new Yosef’s Sweet Shack location in the West concourse will include ice cream sandwiches from Blue Deer Cookies, cotton candy and Frosé (frozen rosé), along with additional non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.
  • The Locker Room Grab & Go station with quick snacks and beverages will be available again this season in the West concourse, and there will also be a smaller-scale Grab & Go station on the East side.
  • Additional food trucks will be present throughout the stadium, including The Cardinal, Hungry Howies, Penn Station, Ben & Jerry’s and Sunset Slush (that specific one for three games).
  • Condiment pumps will be utilized rather than individual condiment packets.

 
Customer Service

  • For sold-out games, the ticket windows at the front of the north end zone will serve as customer service booths for fan questions on game day.

 
Entry

As a new safety feature this season, all five entrances to Kidd Brewer Stadium (listed below) will have walk-through metal detectors in 2023 — fans will not be asked to remove keys, phones or other common items before passing through the metal detector. 

  • Echota West Gate (all patrons)
  • Shelco East Gate (all patrons)
  • Northwest Gate (all patrons)
  • North End Zone (north end zone club ticket holders)
  • Mark E. Ricks Athletics Complex (suite and west club ticket holders; media)


Exit/Re-Entry

  • Fans who exit Kidd Brewer Stadium during the game may not re-enter.
 
First Aid
  • First aid stations are located behind sections 101 and 102 on the West side and under section 218 on the East side.

 
Food Trucks

  • Food trucks will be present throughout the stadium, including The Cardinal, Hungry Howies, Penn Station, Ben & Jerry’s and Sunset Slush (that specific one for three games).

 
Free ice cream at Sept. 16 game

  • Mars ice cream bars – 12,000 total! – will be handed out for free by App State student-athletes and other personnel outside the stadium before the Sept. 16 home game against East Carolina.

 
Gate Openings

  • For the Sept. 16 game vs. ECU, gates will open at 12:30 p.m. for Student Yosef Club members through the Echota West Gate with their mobile ticket, at 1 p.m. for App State students with their mobile ticket and at 1:30 p.m. for all other ticket holders. 
  • Subject to change, gates will also open two hours early for fans (and two and a half hours early for Student Yosef Club members) for the other home games.

 
Grab & Go

  • The Locker Room Grab & Go station, introduced in 2022, will again be available in the West concourse. There will also be a smaller-scale Grab & Go station on the East side.


Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Raffle

  • App State Athletics and RubiTrux Boone have partnered to raffle off a Mountaineer-branded 2023 Jeep Rubicon, which will be parked in the Jerry Moore Plaza during every home game. Raffle tickets are just $100, and all net proceeds will go to support App State Athletics.
  • The last day to purchase a raffle ticket will be Nov. 16, a drawing will take place on Nov. 17, and the winner will be presented with this one-of-a-kind Jeep in an on-field ceremony during the Nov. 25 App State football game against Georgia Southern.
  • Tickets can be purchased online or in-person at the Appalachian State University ticket office (111 Rivers Street in Boone).

 
Junior Mountaineer Kids Club

  • Mountaineer fans 8th grade and younger can join the Junior Mountaineer Kids Club to receive exclusive JMKC gear and experiences at App State Athletics events.
  • JMKC Day will be on Nov. 25 for the App State-Georgia Southern game. After signing up your child or children, you will receive a link for a special deal on tickets for the JMKC Day game.

 
Lost and Found

  • Any lost items during the game will be brought to the first-floor lobby of the Mark E. Ricks Athletics Complex (or the first-floor lobby of the North End Zone facility for patrons in the North End Zone).
  • After the game, all unclaimed items are turned over to the App State Police Department (828-262-2150).

Media Entrance & Policies

  • Game entrance for media is the fourth floor of the Ricks Athletics Complex.

Merchandise 

There will be four Mountaineer Merch locations, with more variety than ever offered before in Kidd Brewer Stadium. That includes signature game day items worn by Coach Clark as well as premium offerings. The four locations are:

  • Jerry Moore Plaza (pregame only — opening four hours before kickoff and closing at kickoff)
  • West concourse within the Locker Room Equipment station that’s adjacent to the Locker Room Grab & Go station
  • South end of the East concourse
  • For premium ticket holders, the fourth-floor lobby of the Mark E. Ricks Athletics Complex

 
Mobile App

  • Download the App State Athletics mobile app to get the latest updates and promotions for App State game days and sports teams. Enable push notifications to get up-to-date alerts for game days and other strategic times.

 
Mobile Tickets

  • Kidd Brewer Stadium non-premium tickets became digital starting in 2022. Follow these instructions for how to deliver, add, manage, transfer and present your mobile tickets.
  • Fans should download their mobile tickets to their phone before arriving at Kidd Brewer Stadium.
  • For fans who have not yet downloaded their tickets, two mobile ticket download stations will be available next to Trivette Hall and in the residence hall quad between Laurel Creek Hall, Thunder Hill Hall and Raven Rocks Hall. If your mobile device is not working, you will be redirected to the ticket windows at the front of the north end zone.

 
Mountaineer Walk

  • The App State football team will walk from Roess Dining Hall up Stadium Drive to Kidd Brewer Stadium roughly 2 hours, 45 minutes before kickoff on each game day.
  • Mountaineer Walk for 3:30 p.m. games will begin at 12:45 p.m.

 
Music

  • A professional DJ will run PA music for each home game this fall to complement music provided by the Marching Mountaineers.

 
Outside Food & Drink

  • No outside food or drink is accepted into Kidd Brewer Stadium. One unopened standard-size bottle of water per patron is allowed for home games for the rest of the 2023 schedule.

 
Parking & Tailgating

  • Yosef Club parking lot information and map.
  • Yosef Club parking lots will open to passholders for tailgating at 8 a.m. for games with 2:30 or 3:30 p.m. start times (subject to change), including the Sept. 2 opener that kicks off at 3:30 p.m.
  • Fans who do not have a Yosef Club parking pass can park for free at Levine College of Health Sciences (75 first-come, first-serve spaces) and take the AppalCART route to campus. Other game day parking options can be found at Explore Boone’s Guide to Game Day Parking.
  • Tailgating times are subject to change based on kickoff times as they are announced.
  • Student tailgating information can be found at the Office of Campus Activities web page.
  • Malt beverages and unfortified wine may be consumed in designated tailgating locations by those fans of legal drinking age. Those who choose to consume alcohol must be able to present a valid driver’s license or photo ID to reflect their age upon request. Spiritous liquor, kegs, common containers and glass containers are not permitted in any tailgating location. No outside alcohol is permitted inside Kidd Brewer Stadium.

Premium Areas

  • For the final four home games (excluding Sept. 2 and Sept. 16), tickets are available for the Rock Garden, a premium field-level lounge in the north end zone. For more info, visit MountaineersAthleticFund.com, choose an applicable game and go to the “Purchase by Price” tab.

Restrooms 

  • In addition to permanent restrooms on all four sides of Kidd Brewer Stadium, App State is bringing portable toilets to supplement in concourses and under the temporary north end zone bleachers for the games on Sept. 2 (Gardner-Webb) and Sept. 16 (East Carolina).
  • Portable toilets are provided in parking/tailgate areas.

Smoking 

  • Kidd Brewer Stadium is a smoking-free facility. Smoking of tobacco products and electronic cigarettes/vaping is strictly prohibited.


South End Zone Enhancement 

  • As both an aesthetic and safety enhancement from 2022, the south end of Kidd Brewer Stadium features a new brick wall with columns at the bottom of Miller Hill.


Sustainability

  • Recycle (blue), compost (green), and waste (gray/black) containers are available throughout the stadium.
  • Fans are encouraged to recycle plastic, glass, metal and clean paperboard products in BLUE recycling receptacles.
  • Compost leftover food waste and paper products in GREEN compost carts throughout the stadium.
  • The new Locker Room Grab & Go station will include more aluminum cans and less plastic products for better environmental sustainability.
  • Recycling and trash bags will be handed out by staff/volunteers in all tailgate lots so please be sure to recycle your bottles, cans, and clean cardboard! 


Tagboard

  • Fans who use each game’s custom hashtag (e.g. #BeatGW on Sept. 2 and #BeatECU on Sept. 16) will have the chance to see their social media posts shared on the main video board during game day.

 
Temporary Bleachers 

  • For the Sept. 2 opener vs. Gardner-Webb and the Sept. 16 game against East Carolina, temporary bleachers (2,000+ seats) have been added in the north end zone to account for the increased demands in the opening month. The East Carolina game sold out in July.


Tickets

  • Visit appstatesports.com/tickets to purchase single-game tickets for 2023 football games.
  • Season tickets sold out in June. Tickets for the home games against East Carolina, Marshall and Southern Miss sold out in July/August. Limited tickets remain for the other three home games.

 
Traffic Flow

  • During pregame, on-campus traffic for vehicles with parking passes will be routed up Stadium and Jack Branch Drive and out by Stadium Deck, the Schaefer Center and back onto Rivers Street.
  • Postgame traffic will all be directed away from Kidd Brewer Stadium. App State police and traffic attendants will determine which way traffic is routed onto Rivers Street and away from campus based on the flow or backup of vehicles.

TVs

  • Fans can enjoy live footage of the game in progress on TVs in the East and West concourses, as well as premium areas.

 
Video Board

  • Constructed in 2017, the main Kidd Brewer Stadium video board has 2,500 square feet of 13HD technology by Daktronics. It measures 50 feet high by 90 feet wide. Ribbon boards on the East, West and North give fans an immersive video board experience.

 
Water Fountains

  • Water fountains are available in the concourses. Fans may bring in one unopened bottled water to each remaining 2023 home game.

 
Weather Delays

  • If lightning is detected within eight miles, stadium patrons must be evacuated for their safety until the storm has passed.
  • Any evacuation procedures will be instructed via the in-stadium PA announcer.
  • Visitors can also sign up for stadium safety alerts by texting AppStateALERT to 67283 on game day.


Yikas Rewards

  • Yikas Rewards is a student-only rewards program that requires a valid App State student email address to join.
  • Open the App State Athletics App on your mobile device, select "more" in the bottom navigation bar and click "Student Rewards" in the menu. Enter your information, including your student email address, and a confirmation message will be sent to your email. Then click "Confirm your email.”

Yosef Club

  • The Yosef Club is the annual fundraising component of the Mountaineers Athletic Fund.
  • Celebrating its 50th anniversary last year, the Yosef Club’s primary purpose is to provide scholarships for App State student-athletes.
  • Yosef Club members receive a variety of benefits. Members with season tickets receive their own parking pass for all home football and basketball games. Other benefits include a quarterly newsletter and special events throughout the year.
