Biography

  • David Nail has been at the forefront of the American Country Music Scene since 2002, when he debuted with a song called “Memphis” through an album for Mercury Records. To this day, he remains one of the biggest names in Country and Western Music.

Born in Kennett, Missouri, David Nail drew inspiration from his father who was the musical director of a high school band. Nail himself was a member of many bands in high school decided upon pursuing a career as a solo singer-songwriter.

Despite his first release back in 2002 of a song called “Memphis”, it wasn’t until he switched labels to MC Nashville that he would release a full length studio album on August 18th 2009 entitled “I’m About to Come Alive”, which went on to peak at 19 in the US Country Chart. It also featured the singles, “Turning Home” which made it to number 20, and “Red Light”, which made it to number 7 in the US Country Chart.

His sequential albums followed suit and started to sell more and more with “The Sound of a Million Dreams” which was released on November 15th 2011, made it to number 8 in the US Country Charts, amassing 75,000 in sales. It was also this album that featured a song called “Let it Rain” featuring a country music contemporary named Sarah Buxton that earned him his first US Country number 1 single. His latest album, “I’m a Fire” which was released on March 4th 2014 that made it to number 3 in the US Country Charts and 13 in the Billboard charts. He has collaborated with fellow country artists, Florida Georgia Line on a song called “Dayum, Baby” from their album “Here’s to the Good Times”.

With all of the above under his belt and more, it is no wonder that he has been nominated for a Grammy Award and two Academy of Country Music Awards in his career so far.

  • David Nail

I've been listening to David Nail for 10 years. Have always loved his word and voice. I for some reason have never had a chance to go and see him but always crossed my fingers he would be added to certain fairs or fests in our area. When I heard he was going to be an hour away from me in my hometown I immediately bought 3 tickets to go. I've been to a lot of country concerts in the last 5 years but this one I was extremely excited for. Although I was slightly disappointed in the location of the concert. Dakota Magic in my opinion sucks for concerts. Not a fan of that place but sucked it up just for him. Unfortunately I couldn't make it there early enough to use the free meet and greats I won because of work. Thought he was awesome but probably would've been better if the place was packed. Can't believe how bad the turn out was. Felt sorry for him because its gotta be hard to get pumped up and play for so few. I honestly loved every song and his voice was outstanding. Got to meet him in the lounge after but David wasn't very talkative which I don't blame him at all. Got a picture with him but no smile from him. Maybe next time! I hope I will get to see David again but hopefully at a better venue. Like I said i'm a big fan of his music but felt this experience needs a redo for sure.

    Thanks, PaulyG

  • Thank you for an amazing night. I love smaller venues because of the sound and how personal the connection between the music it brings. And you are truly talented. I have always loved your music. And when I hear a song it reminds me of a time a place or someone and it was really cool to hear what you think about when you hear a certain song and for you to share that you have twins was so amazing because we have twins in our family I have 16 month old niece and nephew that are twins and they have brought so much joy to our family and they're so special so to hear that you had twins I guess was the best part of the concert for me. And gave me a new memory when I hear your music it'll bring me back to that time in that moment and I will always remember hearing you talk about your twins. So thank you for such a memorable experience that I will never forget. And I wish you and your family the best that life has to offer. Keep doing what you do. Because I look forward to hearing more from you. And wish you the best in your career you're lucky to be able to reach so many people and you do in to know your humble ingrateful for what's really important was a special moment. And a great experience to share.

  • David Nail really likes to perform in small intimate venues, such as the Grand Ole Opry. His music is almost country but not quite. So even if you are not a fan of country music, you will probably love David Nail. He keeps his concerts simple and just lets the power of his voice take over.

His style of music is like country meets hipster. He plays his guitar and sings with a little twang, while dressed in hipster clothes with a band member playing a grand piano in the background. He really takes ahold of your heart when you hear him sing. Female fans really love him because he is nice to look at. This means you will usually find lots of love-struck young females in the audience. The setting is usually very mellow and you will not see lots of lighting or props. This is okay because the music is so good.

David nail is at his best when he is performing live in a small setting. He can capture the attention of his audience with his thoughtful lyrics. People can relate to his words and small town attitude. It is a casual performance that will relax and entertain you!

  • David Nail has been slowly gaining more and more attention over the recent decade as his studio albums continue to rise higher on the charts. This has seen the man performing on larger stages to a greater number of fans yet his mannerism and style keep the whole operation fairly low key. He mainly relies on his faithful acoustic and a handful of selected accompanying musicians to recreate his sound.

There is no denying that David prefers to play in intimate venues so as to create a personable atmosphere with his crowds yet he has quite a skill in managing to achieve this even when performing on a larger scale. The likes of 'Red Light' and 'She Rides Away' sound equally good when supported by a choir of fans during the chorus and Nail sees this as an advantage of the bigger audience size. He really showcases his vocal on cover versions of Coldplay's 'Fix You' and 'Interstate' by Randy Rogers. He saves 'Whatever She's Got' for a singalong encore and assures the audience that he is in the country game for the long haul.

  • I first saw David Nail when he opened for Lady Antebellum last December in Vegas. He was awesome, which made me want to see him again. He wasn't quite as awesome this time but he was still decent. He was the second of two opening acts and for some reason, it seems that his set was really short. You can tell he pulls from a variety of musical influences, he has good instrumentation and a good voice but last night just wasn't his best.

  • Amazing concert!!! Never puts on a bad show... absolutely love his voice!!! The only downside to the concert or any other one for that matter is getting stuck standing behind taller people since I am short.
