Demi Lovato and Boyfriend Max Ehrich Are Engaged: 'I Knew I Loved You the Moment I Met You'

Demi Lovato and Max Ehrich's engagement comes less than four months after PEOPLE revealed they were dating

Demi Lovato is engaged!

The "I Love Me" singer’s boyfriend, former Young and the Restless actor Max Ehrich popped the question on Wednesday, less than four months after PEOPLE revealed they were dating.

Ehrich, 29, asked the singer to marry him in Malibu, California, with a stunning diamond ring by celebrity jeweler Peter Marco.

Sharing a series of photos taken shortly after Ehrich got down on one knee, Lovato, 27, opened up about saying "yes" to the man who made her want to "to be the best version" of herself.

"When I was a little girl, my birth dad always called me his 'little partner' - something that might've sounded strange without his southern cowboy like accent. To me it made perfect sense. And today that word makes perfect sense again but today I'm officially going to be someone else's partner," the bride-to-be wrote.

"@maxehrich - I knew I loved you the moment I met you," Lovato captioned the images. "It was something I can't describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too.. I've never felt so unconditionally loved by someone in my life (other than my parents) flaws and all."

"You never pressure me to be anything other than myself. And you make me want to be the best version of myself. I'm honored to accept your hand in marriage. I love you more than a caption could express but I'm ecstatic to start a family and life with you. I love you forever my baby. My partner. Here's to our future!!!! 😩😭❤️🥰😍."

Sharing similar images captured by photographer Angelo Kritikos, the actor explained he could not wait a moment longer without having the singer as his wife.

"Ahhhh 💍😭🥳💓 You are every love song, every film, every lyric, every poem, everything I could ever dream of and then some in a partner in life," he captioned the photographs.

"Words cannot express how infinitely in love with you I am forever and always and then some. I cannot spend another second of my time here on Earth without the miracle of having you as my wife. here's to forever baby 💍 ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh jeuejfjqjweuvu I'm so excited 😭😭😭 you are the most beautiful inside and out in the entire world & I couldn’t be more grateful God brought us together 🥳❤️ 🙃💍💍💍😭I LOVE YOU SO MUCH @ddlovato AND WILL FOREVER CHERISH YOUR PURE, BEAUTIFUL, INFINITE SOUL."

While the pair have not been dating long, a source, tells PEOPLE the couple grew closer while social distancing together amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The source says Ehrich knew very quickly he wanted to marry the singer but waited until her engagement ring's custom setting was finished, adding that after two months "he already had the stone" and "it's huge."

In May, Lovato and Ehrich were among the many couples to be featured in the music video for Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande's song "Stuck with U." In the video, the pair share a romantic kiss — marking the first time Lovato publicly confirmed their relationship.

The pop star also posted about their music video appearance on her Instagram and her story, tagging her beau and sharing a series of heart-filled emojis. "This video was too f---ing cute. Beautifully written and incredibly sung. Congrats fam @arianagrande @justinbieber @scooterbraun @sb_projects," she wrote in one of her Instagram story slides.

In the clip she shared on her Instagram grid hours after the music video dropped (making sure that followers cannot comment under the post), Lovato wrote, "Happy to be a part of something so special right now. Like really REALLY happy if you can't tell... 🥰🥰🥰 #stuckwithu."

On April 7, Ehrich appeared to acknowledge his and Lovato's one-month anniversary of dating on Instagram, where he posted a video of himself nodding along and smiling to Sam Smith's "To Die For” with the caption, "1 <3."

Three days prior, the pair were spotted grocery shopping at Erewhon Market in Los Angeles. They wore masks and blue gloves as a measure to protect themselves from the coronavirus.

On March 28, Lovato made a brief, accidental appearance during Ehrich‘s Instagram Live. In the video, Ehrich was playing the piano for his fans when Lovato suddenly appeared from behind and tried to wrap a blanket around her new man.

"I'm on live! I'm on live," Ehrich urgently whispered to Lovato, who quickly hid her face with the blanket and fled off-screen as Ehrich covered his mouth while laughing and looking at the camera.

The live mishap came after the couple was caught having numerous flirty interactions on social media by some eagle-eyed fans. On March 23, Ehrich — who posted videos of himself snuggling with Lovato’s pups Batman and Ella on Instagram Stories — shared a shirtless snap of himself on Instagram.

"When u realize u should've packed more for your quarantine stay 😅🤦‍♂️ have a blessed Monday filled with health, happiness, safety, joy, love, & laughter <3," he captioned the steamy photo. Lovato quickly responded in his comments, writing: "Fine by me…"

And on March 11, Ehrich covered Mario's "Let Me Love You," dedicating the song to a special someone in the caption.

"To my <3," he wrote, prompting Lovato to comment with a heart emoji of her own.

Just a week earlier, Lovato said during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that aired March 5 that she was single — and loving herself.

"I was on dating apps for a while but as I've spent some time with myself over the past couple months, I realized that I am the type of person that will find any way to regulate when I'm sad or lonely or whatever,” she said. "I have to fight those battles on my own, and I can't let somebody come in and fix those issues for me. So right now, I'm single and spending my Saturday nights by myself."
