Only Built For Infinity Links

Quavo & Takeoff

About “Only Built For Infinity Links”

Only Built For Infinity Links is Quavo and Takeoff’s first collaborative album after a long catalog of music between the two, released on October 7, 2022.

The name of the album pays tribute to Raekwon’s classic 1995 album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…, which also has a reference on the cover with the signs of Ghostface Killah, made by Quavo.

On May 20, the duo released the lead single for the album, “HOTEL LOBBY (Unc & Phew)”, which took the world by storm. Due to the lack of Offset’s presence on the track, rumors of a possible breakup between the Migos' members were spread after the release of the song. Those rumors were quickly shut down however, as Quavo changed his Twitter bio to say “1/3 of @Migos #YRN.”

The Gucci Mane-assisted, “Us vs. Them” was the second single for the album and was released on July 29.

On August 18, 2022, Quavo and Takeoff went on an interview with RapRadar and spoke about an upcoming “Unc & Phew” album that had been worked on since after the release of the last Migos‘ album, Culture III, releasing soon.

It’s an album that’s always been in our mind that we wanted to do […] You’re about to get this real-deal, raw, uncut, 2024, 2026 [sound]. [We’re going] back to the essence, back to the origin, back to the real screams and shouts. You know, how I came in on Us Vs. Them. It’s about blood, it’s about us coming together, and bringing it back home to the family.

The third promotional single featured Cash Money Records label boss Birdman and was titled “Big Stunna”. The song was released on August 26.

On September 6, Quavo took to Twitter to ask his fans in a tweet about the album. The next day, both Quavo and Takeoff confirmed the project on their social media with the release date and cover art, which also shows a clear reference to many rap albums, as stated above.

On September 23, Both Quavo and Takeoff revealed the tracklist consisting of 18 songs and collaborations with artist such as YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Young Thug, Gunna, and more.

The fourth and last promotional single, “Nothing Changed” was released on September 30, a week before the album’s release.

Eighteen beautiful records, I mean, we’ve been cooking up. This project was supposed to come out, past due. So we’ve just been grinding, you know. We’re always in the studio, so just cooking up and painting that picture. We put out another project, we put out Culture III, but it’s been time for this. So we’ve just been painting that picture and we came up with a Picasso. It was time for it.
