Stephenson High School Reviews

I came from an all girls charter school from grades 3rd through 8th, in which, I enjoyed. I was really afraid of taking the next step to high school because I was afraid of the unknown. However, after my visit during pre-registration, everyone was so helpful and allowed me to ask questions. I was very pleased with the answers. My first year, I knew I wanted to focus on academics and get ready for college. I was able to have one on one meetings with my counselor, which made me want to excel even more. I started joining clubs and signing up for sports, like FBLA, track, volley ball, dance team, cheerleading, etc. I continued to stay focused on my academics by making sure I made time to study, regardless of my activities. So here I am, an upcoming Senior, looking forward to excelling in academics and extra curricular activities. Stephenson High School as given me the opportunity to grow academically, as well as expanding my mental and physical growth. I would not change one thing.
The best parts I would say are probably the generic senior or high school student activities and occasions. It is nice to see that the people I have grown up with have become their own person and are doing the things you would see other seniors or high school students doing. However, this also brings about the feeling of surprise and uncertainty. The worst part I would say was the way that info, events, and communication were handled. I often times would have to argue with teachers to get the info needed to complete something that wasn't given, to begin with. This is the part about my school I'd like to see change, I'd like better control, functionality, practicality, and organization of the way the info, events, and communication are handled.
My best experience at the school was probably any sport event I went to, the sense of community and passion in the entire stadium made me feel absolutely ecstatic to go to the next. I did not like the frequency of fights, it got out of hand a lot. I wish they would throw more pep rallies.
