Denver-based television prodco Dorsey Pictures has inked a deal with Matt Assmus and his production company, MTA Media, for the expansion of their development and production team.
Additionally, casting producer Whitney Hayes (pictured, right) has been elevated to development coordinator at Dorsey, which is part of the Red Arrow Entertainment Group.
Both will join the development team led by seasoned unscripted producer Allison Boon, who serves as the company’s vice-president of development.
Assmus (pictured, left) returns to his hometown of Denver, Colorado after spending 13 years in Los Angeles, to launch his company MTA Media and align with Dorsey Pictures to oversee current productions and boost development.
During his career, Assmus has been a reality TV producer on series including Fear Factor and Pimp My Ride and was showrunner on Ashton Kutcher’s Beauty & The Geek. He served as executive producer and showrunner on The Biggest Loser and Extreme Weight Loss during his tenure with reality and non-fiction prodco 3Ball productions. He also worked in development and launched several cable series including My Cat From Hell, Scott Baio is 45 & Single, Hair Battle Spectacular, Reality Bites Back and Hammertime.
Hayes moves to development coordinator after three years as casting producer for the production company. During that time, she supported the general development process in addition to casting over 150 episodes for series including Tiny House, Big Living, The Treehouse Guys and Building Off the Grid.
