Philip S. Miller Park, The Town’s no. 1 park priority is Now Open!
Castle Rock’s largest park project ever is officially open for businesses. Construction on the adventurous regional park began in summer 2013. Now, the 320-acre Philip S. Miller Park truly has something for everyone.
The park is named after local banker and philanthropist Philip S. Miller. The Town is one of several recipients of trust monies Miller and his wife, Jerry, left behind in the mid-1990s.
The Miller Activity Complex, or MAC for short, is the Town’s newest recreational facility.

The 7.4-mile native-surface trail network consists of single-track trails divided into four different, but interconnected, loops with 1.2 miles of paved accessible segments. The trail’s shinning jewel is the 200-step Challenge Staircase. It’s a lot tougher than it seems, and has already been wildly popular with fitness buffs.
This active regional park includes a 2.5-acre Adventure Playground that features a 40-foot long slide and many other unique play options that blend seamlessly with the natural terrain, Gambel Oak and Ponderosa Pines. In addition, a large synthetic turf athletic field, concrete pathways, parking, lighting, the privately operated Castle Rock Zip Line Tours (a zip line course with 10 lines stretched throughout the park’s ridgelines) and the privately operated Epic Adventure Tower (which allows users to scale a 40-foot climbing wall, zip and jump from a 40-foot platform or choose to freefall from a 70-foot platform while protected by state-of-the-art auto belay devices) rounds out the amenities completed in this first phase.
Phase one, which opened Oct. 25, 2014, includes: the 64,443 square foot, two-story Miller Activity Complex, or the MAC. On a typical day, you’ll find kids playing soccer, lacrosse and football on the indoor full-sized and half-sized artificial turf fields; playing in a 3,000 square foot play area boasting an indoor playground with 23-foot tall slide; and jumping around in a 5,000 square foot trampoline zone with 16 trampolines.
Adults and kids alike can also play video golf on a 18-hole simulator using real clubs and a life-size projection screen or take a swing at the plate in the indoor batting cages.
The MAC also boasts an impressive indoor aquatics center with four lap lanes, a winding water slide, a zero-entry section with smaller slide, water table and a vortex whirlpool that simulates rushing currents of water.
Construction of the second phase of this 270-acre park began in March 2015 is now completed.
The Plaza houses picnic pavilions, restrooms, a splash pad, plaza area, outdoor fireplace, play features and landscaping. The splash pad, restrooms, and outdoor fireplaces will be operational from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Gas grills are allowed, however charcoal grills are not. The Amphitheater and Millhouse includes the events pavilion, outdoor amphitheater, pond and water feature, accessible concrete trails, additional parking and landscaping.
