I feel small

Giving Advice

I am taking my postgraduates. In my class, I am the youngest amongst 30-50 year olds that have been working in the industry for years. I feel so small and I feel like I’m the stupidest one in class. It makes me not want to study and just give up.

Well the fact that you’re the youngest is probably “props to you.” Your potential of youth is a potential energy of time, remember that. Maintain a growth mindset and don’t let comparison unnecessarily be the thief of joy!

Dude, I’m the oldest in an undergrad program. Yup, I’m at least 20 years older than my classmates and in the beginning it was really intimidating and hard. Hang in there, I promise you it will get much better and having connections in the industry is a massive bonus🚀

How I see it is, you are younger and you have succeeded just like others in your class in way less time, which is definitely an achievement.

How I see age is "An average estimate number which tells about your maturity". You are more or just as mature as others in your class. Don't let that evil part of the mind grow on you 😇

I can understand how being the youngest and least experienced in your postgraduate class would make you feel small and insecure. It's intimidating being surrounded by people who have so much more real-world knowledge than you. However, please don't let those feelings make you want to give up.

join the club :") don't give up tho, try to look at it from a positive point of view. this will give you an terrific chance to grow your network with people who are already working in that field you're studying, so maybe it will help you find a job in the future! being the youngest has its ups and downs, but don't feel intimidated and don't give your studies up, I'm sure you'll end up doing great.

As someone who's 32, I'll tell you to keep that feeling for as long as you can.
