Episode Description: Burgess works an extra shift at the 13th District and gets caught in the middle of a drive-by attack on refugees; the team works together to track down the shooter and uncover the true motive behind the attack.
We’re past the point of this show ever getting rid of Kim. She should be on the cast until the end. Her growth has been incredible to watch and Marina kills it every time she gets the spotlight. Wonderful episode and a tremendous, earned ending.
She’s the Olivia Benson of Chicago PD
But better
She needs to be made DETECTIVE, ffs!
I love Kim. This week’s episode is miles better than the SVU one.
One of the best Kim-centric episodes this show has ever had. She wasn’t used as a victim, she was just determined to get to the bottom of a murder. And I fully expect Ruzek and Burgess to get married this time.
She was intense! Sweet ending.
I want a full-on wedding dammit.
This episode is better than last week episode
Muuuuch better episode, even with some of the twists being standard cop show tropes. Only thing that bothered me was where the hell was Torres? lol
Taking care of his madre lol
It said first episode he was undercover. The promo for next week says he is undercover..
Probably making a movie.
Dante Torres should’ve been included in this episode. Two Spanish-speaking members of Intelligence working together on this particular case. A missed opportunity!
Right? Is he just gone? Have the writers kicked him off? I thought he was part of the team for real now
This week’s episode is Torres-centric. But the main question is…will he be benched again in S11•E05 and onwards? Why it has to be him? Voight also doesn’t do much lately. He’s just there…
THE WEDDING IS BACK ON EVERYBODY. WE WONNNNNN
Ok they better not break them up again now. Let this just happen for good and move on. No more fake relationship drama!
Makayla is alive!
I've seen it twice already, love the episode! Burgess in uniform is giving me feels. It's like a mix of an old show and a current one. I'm a huge fan of Kim's episodes and Marina is amazing, as always.
Burgess detective when??? She's by far the best investigator, some things she cracked were top level cases. Glad to see she continues to shine, but promotion is way overdue. Same for the guys. When??
Interesting to know she had a nanny, so she is indeed from a privileged family, but anyone remember why she quit being a flight attendant and became police? Suddenly I'm curious, 'cause she probably had a vast career options, coming from such a family. And after all these horrible things that happened to her on the job, she also never quit. Never even considered. I really apploud her resolve, dedication, her sense of justice and compassion. She is a great character.
See? It really isn't that hard to just let Kim and Adam be happy 🥳🥳🥳
EXACTLY
Damn this is a solid episode and it feels sooooo good lol
I love watching Kim put together the pieces of a case, she's legit always been the best investigator on that team. She even broke open some some pretty major cases while still on patrol, I love that they kept this trait of hers consistent throughout the seasons. Also domestic Burgess 😭😭😭😭
That being said this episode was pretty tone deaf. Making Burgess be the one to humanize the migrants and the white cops run to the rescue while simultaneously making the Latino cop the villain is so...that framing on that is just not it, and it's clearly a deliberate attempt to find some sort of middle ground to deal with a controversial topic.
I’m going to play devil’s advocate for a minute.
When the migrant crisis first came to Chicago, there was at minimum a dozen reports of migrants being raped by police officers. The reports later came out that the majority were committed by latino officers.
When I saw it, my frame of reference was simply what I had seen on our Chicago news. I have noticed an uptick in including Chicago crime issues or police standards.
My comment was less about the rapist being Latino and more about that being contrasted or portrayed in conjunction with the white saviouring.
They could’ve at least included Torres, he and Kim would’ve played really well off each other because they’ve both been shown to be really compassionate. The way he dealt with the rape victim from season 10 was amazing, best portrayal I’ve seen even counting SVU. I wouldn’t even want them to make the case personal for him or use him the way they use Kevin for Black vs Blue storylines, but with some episodes you really do need to highlight your characters of colour. It becomes a problem when you use them almost exclusively for those kinds of episodes. Looks like they’re gonna make him the gangs and drugs guy though 😂
They are definitely making him their drugs/gangs guy based on next week’s preview and his final return.
I do see your point and it definitely would have created a different perspective to at minimum have him involved in investigating the dirty cop and helping to track down the witness.
White savioring isnt just anytime a whute person does good. Its a patrern and one chicago gives every character a chance to shine. We wouldnt say when kevin does something oh its just "black savioring". Focusing on the race of a person who helps is problematic.
Are you from Chicago? I'm not, and had no idea that this was based off of real news events. How awful.
Yes, I am. The shooting part was not but the raping of migrants in police stations was happening.
I also love that they remembered Kim speaking Spanish in a number of previous episodes. They even provided a backstory to explain it. Nice! I’m not from the US and thought that speaking Spanish as a second language was pretty common, even if you’re not from a central or southern American background.
Her feature episodes are always the best. This was a really great script and well acted.
I agree! I can’t really think of a Burgess centric I didn’t like off the top of my head. Hers and Kevin are always my favourites because Kevin is my favourite character and Kim’s episodes are always so good.
Kevin is awesome.
No it wasn’t it was a DEI episode and I stopped watching it these illegals should be deported asap
Found our Trumpy.
To me, this story just came off as trying to make people aware that this happens in these migrant camps, nothing more, nothing less. But then again I live in a state that wants to bus them away to sanctuary cities...I guess I just want to see the good in the writers' intentions because I know there are people that need to wake up to that reality that handling the influx of migrants this way is cruel.
I agree. I’m Mexican and I think she definitely came across as having white savior tendencies.
I hated it and stopped watching as soon as it was about illegals not migrants
He knows him. That's murder.
This is the type of CPD episodes that have me on the edge of my seat!
Brava Burgess…Brava
The officer being sketchy is not something I expected
I did. You can’t trust people like that. Nasty people.
Like what?
Like cops. They are usually nasty low down ruthless people.

Will see see Makayla or are we just gonna hear about her?
The two are both now working. Makes sense the kkd doesnt get screen time
We saw her at the end
For all of like 2 min, which is what i assumed the complaint was about
I’m sorry but it’s a cop show. Why would I want to see Makayla or a wedding? Sweet Jesus.
It's a drama show about cops. It's not a direct cop show like the original Law & Order that doesn't focus much on the personal lives of the characters. This show focuses a lot on their personal lives. Don't like it? Go watch something else.
Enjoyed the episode and I’m so happy for Kim and Adam! 🫶
I guess we call them Kdam :-)
Wellllllll....that'll set off this subreddit for awhile...
Burgess, do not knock Power Rangers. They lasted for 30 years. That deserves respect.
It was a fine episode, but seriously the idea that suicide is "the easy way out" is incredibly toxic and really needs to come to an end. Otherwise an all around solid episode.
I don't think its an "easy way out" in general I do think choosing it over life in prison as an ex-cop AND a known sex offender rapist death would be the easy option. Chances are you get killed in there either way
How is Kim not detective yet? Guess it involves studying and taking an exam and she’s had a fair bit going on in her personal life (understatement).
Just a weird oversight by the writers at this point. They should all be detectives considering how long they've been there and well respected intelligence is.
More woke bullshit, all this is. White apologists and pro illegal episode. They did this same shit with the pro BLM episode as well. Liberal Hollywood at its best. Lol
Cry about it. lol
Thank goodness some common sense I stopped watching after the woke crap
Since when would Hank Voight of all people just let a cop he didn’t know just up and join the intelligence division. Just didn’t go with what Voight would do or has done in years past. Come on writers, damn.
Voight had toned down since Al's death. That's the point. He changed. It's not the writer's fault. Don't blame them. You just miss the way he used to be. Also it wasn't a permanent position.
Welp, off to a great start
She's going to put him down
I'm confused about Adam being back on Intelligence. Episode 1 was rehab and episode 2 he still wasn't back, yet he was interfering with the case. I'm in the middle of watching episode 3 and he's back on the team in uniform and all, but there wasn't any mention of him passing the tests and coming back.
The last minute of the last episode he got a call that he passed
Oh thanks I missed that
Adam got a text message from last week's episode that he passed the re-evaluation test in like the last few minutes
They did mention that he passed the tests
Chicago PD: we're gonna swap one Latino Officer with another and hope you don't notice they're 2 different characters. Enough with Torres' mom. Put her ass in a home and get back to work.
I miss jay 😢
Well, this is something
Is it too much to ask for Kim to actually take Adam's last name when they get married or am I delusional? Females never take the last names in Dick Wolf shows
lol. The way this one sided pairing is going Ruzek will take Burgess last name.
😂
She speaks Spanish? Since when?
Since the beginning, she's been translating here and there.
Oh okay was caught off guard
Guess I'm in the minority. I 🙄 through half the episode. Kim is annoying.
Same. She comes across very white savior to me. She’s always irritated me.
She’s the absolute worst
I stopped watching when I realized it was about illegals. I hear enough about that on the news.
Of course you did. No way a person like you would allow the notion that an "illegal" is a person to get through that Trumpy skull, right?
Since when would anyone dispensing meds believe that Albuterol or Abilify are schedule 2 Narcotics?!!
Lol this got me too. Did no one in the crew bother to double check online? Seems to be a very quick search.
Self centered episodes ever fucking week are killing this show!
