We tried Nico's for the first time a few weeks ago...Nico's is a small place further down Hanover Street...easy to find. The décor is sleek and modern and in nice weather, the front is open to the street giving the ristorante a European atmosphere. We were greeted promptly...and were seated right away by a charming hostess. Our waiter was attentive and very professional. Staff is extremely friendly. The restaurant is upscale and the smaller size of the place is appealing. The Saturday lunch menu features lots of brunch items...but we chose Italian specialties...I had a Caesar salad to start and Mamma's Famous Meatball with rigatoni and red sauce. The meatball is one of the most tender I've ever had...a blend of beef, veal, pork, mushrooms, and bread crumbs...served with a dollop of what appeared to be freshly made ricotta...my food was fantastic. One of my companions ordered the same as I did...another enjoyed Chicken Parmesan and another had Linguine with Shrimp...all of us were happy. Loved this place...and I'll be back...enjoy!

Regrettably, my recent visit to Nico Restaurant in the North End left much to be desired. The quality of the cuisine fell short of expectations, with several dishes lacking flavor and finesse. Additionally, the service was inconsistent and failed to meet basic standards of attentiveness and professionalism. Coupled with exorbitant pricing, spent almost $500. this combination made for a disappointing dining outing. In light of these shortcomings, I cannot in good conscience recommend Nico Restaurant to others seeking a satisfying culinary experience.

We ordered Benedict eggs with the lobster meat. It was delicious. Our friends ordered meatballs and they also were very very tasty. The service was quick and friendly.

My husband made reservations for a window seat for my birthday. This has been a tradition to come to Nico for many years until they got rid of my scallop and shrimp truffle dish. We discovered this dish was back and I was so excited to go back. We didn't get our window seat, which is understandable. But when my $36 dish came out it only had 2 scallops and 1 shrimp. I questioned the waiter as I used to get 3/3 of each and he asked if I wanted I manager, which I declined at the time. But still $36 for 2 scallops and 1 shrimp! He did bring me back a to go container with 3 more shrimp. This was not the experience I anticipated going back to NICO. I know we didn't get a window seat b/c of availability, but I paid $36 for a dish I absolutely love and my birthday wasn't acknowledged. It's OK I don't need that but we spent almost $200 on this dinner. Honestly still love NICO but was a bit disappointed.

This is a small, Italian restaurant on Hanover St. It is very small and they try to get as many tables as possible in so the noise level is high. But, the food is excellent. I had the Tableside Cacio e Pepe (cheese wheel pasta). The spaghetti is homemade; the dish is creamy, cheesy, ooey and gooey -- delicious. My husband had the Rigatoni alla Vodka with sausages. His meal was excellent also and surprisingly a bit spicy. The services was also very good. This is a definite recommend.

Table reserved at 20:45. Left at 21:20, without setting. Several people still waiting. Do not accept bookings you can’t accommodate!

Usually try and visit Nico when we visit Boston. The meatball appetizer is outstanding. May be the best meatball anywhere. The rest of the food is also very good although I thought the marinara sauce was a bit thin this time. My daughters had the Ala Vodka with Sausage. This was excellent. Probably the best entree of the four we had. Please is very tight and very loud especially in the lower level but we are used to it and don’t mind.

Their “pollo” dish is sooooo delicious! My daughter had their “North End’s Only’ Tableside Cacio e Pepe” and really enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly. We would go back:)

We were in Boston for the weekend and had some surprise (to me) friends and family meeting us there to celebrate my 50th bday. We had walked by all the amazing Italian restaurants the day before so wanted to have dinner there the next day with everyone (party of 9). Others couldn't take our reservation but referred us here. We were seated downstairs and it was tight, but vibrant. With 7 adults and a 9 & 10 yr old, we ordered quite a variety of food and wine/drinks. It was all delicious. The server brought me dessert with a little sparkler on it to celebrate and it was awesome. Will definitely return when we are in town next.

Couldn’t get an Open Table reservation on a Saturday night. Stopped by in person, they happened to have a table for two and quickly sat us. Ordered the Crab Gnocchi (Semolina Gnocchi, White Wine, Tomatoes) appetizer as my entree for $24. It was delicious and very filling. Service was excellent.

My husband is from Boston and so we visit 4 to 5 times a year.We love the sports ,culture and especially the food, as it difficult to get great seafood and Italian food where we live. Hanover Street has been a tradition for years and I cannot remember having a bad meal. However , Nico changed that-4 people ,4 poor meals. We had reservations 2 weeks ahead. We arrived and were met outside by hostess in 40 degree and very windy weather. She acted as if she couldn’t find our reservation until my husband pointed it out. Then she asked us to stand outside instead of letting us come in for drink at the bar. We waited 10 minutes outside and she then invited us in through a busy bar and restaurant to the downstairs dining room and seated us across from a service area and next to bathroom . Oh well, just small annoyances and we are just looking forward to a bottle of nice wine and a good meal. Appetizers fine. Wine list is a bit overpriced for what is offered . I ordered the Cacio e Pepe that was a Specialty and advertised as served table side. After ordering, the waiter let me know that because we were downstairs that was not a possibility. We also ordered veal parmigiana and cioppino. When served dinner, the Cacio was grayish and slightly sour. Tried fixing with salt and a sprinkle of Parmesan, but nothing could help it. It did not taste like a traditional Cacio e Papa. The veal Parmesan was soggy, with too much sauce. The Cioppino had dried out lobster. They don’t serve dessert which seems to be a trend as way to quickly turn tables. Final straw was when I saw the hostess come down and talk to our waiter , eyeing us to see if we were leaving . We were out of Nico in under an hour with a $500 dinner bill. I really can’t remember a worse set of meals or less hospitable service. Only highlight was the drunk woman who stumbled down the stairs bumping us, the walls and anything else on her way. Pushing, pulling and pounding on the bathroom door without staff members saying a word .Mesmerizing! When we were walking down the stairs to our table I saw a sign at the top of the stairs that declared the downstairs dining room as “Nico’s Secret “ . My greatest wish is that it remained a secret from our family! Don’t go! So many other good restaurants all along the road!

Quite possibly the worst meal/experience I’ve had on a vacation. The restaurant had 7 tables, very very cramped inside. The bar serves no name brand alcohol, but charges as if they were. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and were unable to eat it because it was so greasy. I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka. It tasted just okay, but the presentation was unappetizing. It was served in a silver cooking pan. The table is already small to begin with and then expecting the guests to eat out of a pan is just wrong. We also ordered the lobster fra diablo. It was a split, overcooked lobster, in the shell, served under the pasta. We are dressed up for dinner and had to crack this lobster and scoop all the pasta off. It was so unappealing. By the time we finished getting the meat out, the food was cold. Also it was not spicy at all. DO NOT ORDER THIS OR GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!!

We had a small group of old friends visiting Boston a few weeks ago and had the pleasure of dinner at Nico. We had dinner at four different Italian restaurants in the North End, and at Nico not only was the food excellent, and an excellent wine list, but the attitude, friendliness, and helpfulness of the manager, Katie, and her staff made it our best dining experience of the trip!

This was my first time eating here. We ordered takeout bc we were not comfortable eating inside. They do offer outside dining. But I ordered the salmon with garlic mash potatoes and broccoli rob. Very delicious and seasoned well. Very friendly staff.

My family had dinner here one night while in Boston. We all enjoyed our meals but the Rigatoni alla vodka was definitely the best.
