Lots of snow on the trail still. It didn’t bother me though. A good adventure!
As a beginner hiker who lives in Miami. This hike was not too hard for me. I stopped a lot to catch my breath (I have asthma) but it was super enjoyable and I would love to come back again :) do be mindful that towards the end you will be stepping in water a bit. And the last half mile feels like 18 flights of stairs. Very fun loved the scenery, it was great!
Gorgeous! Big water flow! Bring spikes. We used them for 2/3 of the hike
It gets pretty snowy about halfway up, I recommend boots and microspikes!
Beautiful day for a hike! A lot of people which is expected on Memorial Day. Trail up does get challenging. Very steep for a decent distance. But if you take it slow it’s manageable even if you’re out of shape like me. The falls are beautiful and well worth it! Hike down is a lot quicker and easier. There were also a couple snakes on the way down off the trail. One might have been a rattler. That was cool. Would recommend!
Absolutely stunning, but maybe a little more difficult than others might let on. At least a solid half of the trail is rock scrambling so unless you have the agility of a mountain goat, you'll probably want poles. You are also 100% going to get your feet wet on at least one of the stream crossing, so wear waterproofed shoes or boots. The falls themselves are absolutely stunning and worth it if you can make it up, but I saw at least three groups of ill-prepared hikers give up and turn around this morning. The trail starts off a little deceptively, but the back half (and especially the final quarter) is going to be hard on your knees and back as you get higher up into the mountains. As I said, lots of rock scrambling and chances to slip and eat a rock or two if you're not sure-footed. Definitely know what you're getting into, because it's on the harder side of intermediate in my opinion. But if you can make it, wow, what a view.
Mixed snow and running water on the trail during the first half. Second half is packed snow. I started the hike around 9am and didn’t need crampons until climbing the side of the falls. Beautiful hike.
Beautiful hike!!! Two stream crossings: one very small and jumpable, one where the creek pretty much goes down the trail for 50 meters (you’ll get your feet wet if not wearing waterproof shoes). Slippery from waterfall spray at the end. Last 1/3 going up is rocky, a light scramble. Saw a wild turkey and some beautiful flowers.
Trail was beautiful, spikes recommended. Made it a lot easier. Snow throughout the whole trail. Little over 2.2. Tracked 2.6. Happy hiking!
Started this trail Tuesday around 11am and it had a decent amount of people but not too crazy. Pretty rocky so be mindful if you have bad ankles or knees. Dry conditions until the top, your feet might get a little wet at a shallow stream crossing but it’s not bad. So beautiful with a rewarding view at the top!
Still pretty snowy, muddy in other spots. The snow is melting so it’s a little slushy and you definitely have to focus so you don’t slip in some spots. Overall pretty gorgeous hike! I’m sure it will clear up a little more in the next little bit. It wasn’t busy at all, there were a few people on the hike so you didn’t feel isolated but it wasn’t busy. Make sure you follow the trail on your phone because it isn’t outlined and with the snow it is really easy to get off track.
Spikes are very helpful and Maybe poles. Trail is snow most of r the way and slick does to melting and traffic. Gorgeous day. Totally worth it. My hiking buddy did it in choco closed toe sandals but the trail is pretty wet.
