SCPS is, at its core, a contradictory mess of a school district. The upper management is an unorganized mess that lacks the ability to fix simple issues that students are rallying for (i.e not replacing the soap dispensers after two years)-while complicating every neutral aspect (making phones at school outlawed even with teacher consent to use them). They have banned multiple books, including a failed attempt at banning "The Scarlet Letter" for bullying.
I enjoyed my time in middle and high school, but there were definitely elements that could have been better. For instance, prioritization of the arts as just as important as STEM and sports. I would like to see more investment in performing arts especially, as it is essential to nurture children's creativity and artistry to become better humans.
I would like to see the school slightly more lenient, it seems as the school is very strict and limits everything possible. However, I do really like the environment at sport events, it’s very involving and all around good!
