What Archetype is better, Dark Magician or Blue-Eyes?
Discussion
My sister used to use a Blue-Eyes deck, but since then shes moved to a Cyber Dragon deck. I still run my DM deck, so there's the inspiration to this discussion/question.

Q&A
Competitively speaken: both are pretty bad BUT with the upcoming support for DM there might be light at the end of the tunnel for this deck.
To be fair, Blue-Eyes has won worlds in the past so that has to count for something. Right now however they're just nostalgia decks, fun decks tho.
True but both BE deck bricked horribly in finals, so they can't be that good
But yes, they have tops over DM
That's cuz that year Blue Eyes were meta killers.
Well, mirror matches were never good :D
The banlist for that tournament was also designed in such a way that Blue-Eyes was the only thing that could really compete.
Brick Eyes brick and die to Ash. DM also dies to Ash but they can cheese out an OP boss monster and have some interruptions.
In a vacuum, Blue-Eyes has the tools to be more successful.
Okay listen i built both of these decks and had them duel eachother multiple times AND dueles against multiple decks with them Dark magician deck fucks pretty hard
Agreed
Blue-eyes is probably more functionally sound, having a clear design structure and gameplan. Dark magician is a bit trickier to actually pilot effectively, though their upcoming support does help smooth some things out a fair bit.
I'd say that this is quite possibly intentional though, given how Yugi and Kaiba have used them in the series. Blue-eyes has always been straightforward, focusing solely on power. Most of their cards just have target removal effects, and ways to just throw down big ass dragons. It's not that difficult to pilot the deck so long as you're at least somewhat competent at the game.
Dark magician meanwhile has always been about control and adaptive gameplay. So a lot of the dark magician support is pretty much all over the place in terms of effects. In a perfect world, this would play into the deck's strength, but unfortunately it has the opposite effect. There's cards you pretty much need to run such as magician's rod and dark magic circle, but the games where you don't have them you can end up in a really tight spot that makes it hard to actually play the game. So basically, dark magician wants to be Batman and have tools for basically any scenario. But unlike Batman, dark magician lacks the actual utility belt it needs to have everything be as reliable as it needs to be. As weird of an analogy as that might be, lol.
So long as you know what you're doing though, I do think both are relatively solid decks to play with, but blue-eyes is just a tad bit more reliable overall, so at least at present I'd lean more towards blue-eyes over dark magician. (Also not familiar with the newest support aside from magician's souls, so the rest of it could be significant enough to sway my opinion a little bit more in favor of DM)
They're fine, it's just that SPRYAL, ORCUST and Thunder Dragon are just faster. Blue-eyes is too slow competitively speaking and has lower deck consistency compared to the three. DM has never been a good deck.
Blue-Eyes have always been much better than Dark Magician (I mean, rigjt off the bat nothing in DM's support has been even nearly as good as BEAWD)... but then Dark Magician is getting some powerful support in the new Duelist Pack and Dragon so I guess we'll see?
Blue eyes no contest
