1.0 out of 5 starsGreat idea, poor product

What a great concept this is. Unfortunately the idea did not translate into a quality product. I ordered two of these devices. I was a little surpirsed when I first received them at how poorly packaged they were. Each one was inside a cardboard sleeve much like a deck of cards with no other wrapping or protection for the electronic devices inside. The cardboard sleeves themselves looked like they'd been pulled out of a recycle bin and no instructions or any other paperwork was included in the packaging. After taking one of the units out, the next thing that struck me was how large the device was. 2.5" sounds small but my first thought after seeing it was that in reality it wouldn't take people very long to locate an object of this size. Unfortunately, I would never find out if I was right on that point. The volume and sound selector switch worked on the first device but the timer mechanism to have it sound randomly did not, which rendered the unit useless. The second device was in even worse shape. I was never able to get a single noise out of it. I swapped the batteries in them to make sure that wasn't the issue - it wasn't. And then I had several coworkers try them just to make sure it wasn't user error on my part - afterall, there were no instructions. Still no luck. In short, the quality problem here will make me avoid ThinkGeek products like the plague in the future.
