Probably the best offering from John Stewart that has fallen out of popular memory. "Gold" was on the radio when i was a kid, and I always wondered where it went and what happened to Mr. Stewart. Turns out this album was helped by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. That said it has some very listenable tunes besides the one-hit--albeit with simple song construction and puddle-shallow lyrics as was the mode in 1979 radio play. I'm glad i bought it for 6 bucks, and the vendor i bought it from was fast as lightning.

I've always loved this album and initially had the vinyl album, and still do. I was excited to see this CD-R version available because the real CD version is too expensive, for me anyway. The reason I'm writing this review is because I read another that stated the sound quality is "tinny" and doesn't sound good at all. This is NOT true, at least with the disc I got. If you have the original vinyl album this sounds exactly the same. I don't know if they remixed and remastered that vinyl album for the official CD version when it was released, maybe they did and it sounds better than the vinyl, but this CD-R version sounds exactly like the album I have, and is NOT inferior in any way. I didn't think it sounded "tinny" and all, it has a great bass sound to it. For the price, I am very satisfied, and so happy to finally have a CD I can play in the car!!!!

This album was where John Stewart began playing rock & roll, and darn well, too. His baritone voice is rare for male rock singers, and the backup that various California rock luminaries, including Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, provide is exceptional. The best songs here are the singles "Gold", "Lost Her In The Sun", and "Midnight Wind", the latter of which has a darkly romantic feel to it. The only problems with this CD are that the reissue label, Max Cat Records, sliced the first few seconds off "Gold", as well as the fact that the original artwork wasn't used. However, despite these minor flaws, you should not pass this CD up.

One of my favoritest albums ever. Not a bad track on it. "Gold" got all the airplay, but the back half of the album was even stronger, "Over the Hill," "The Spinnin' of the World," "Comin' Out of Nowhere," "Heart of the Dream." I can understand how "Hand Your Heart to the Wind" never got close to being broadcast, but it's still a great song.

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham contributing to some GREAT songs by a great writer. He's missed. Two thumbs up to this album.

I was seeking out a CD with Gold and found it. I play the whole CD through and sometimes skip past some of the less interesting tunes. I got a fair price for the CD. I am not one to just buy the song from iTunes or other source, so, I will always turn first to Amazon to get the music and videos I want...they have a large comprehensive catalogue.
