Get To Know Don - Don Michael Paul DMP

Don Michael Paul’s work has taken him from the Brandenburg Gate of Berlin to the basilicas of Budapest. From the Black Sea of Bulgaria to the high-veld of South Africa. From the shores of Vancouver BC to the Blue Mosque of Istanbul. From the Greek Isle of Santorini to the dense jungles of Krabi, Thailand. Don loves the world stage and feels at home wherever his filmmaking adventures take him.

DMP cut his teeth on five different continents and he’s still hoping to make his way to Oceania and the Antarctic. He loves working with character-based action, which inspired him to write his freshman script, “Harley Davidson & The Marlboro Man” starring Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson. Alan Ladd, Jr. then contracted him to a four-picture writing deal with MGM. This yielded the John Dillinger biopic “Public Enemies” and the screenplay adaptation of the award-winning depression era novel by Davis Grubb, “Night Of The Hunter.”

DMP hit legendary producer Joel Silver’s radar, who hired him to adapt bestselling author John Gilstrap’s “Nathan’s Run” for Lorenzo di Bonaventura at Warner Bros. He’s since written for Stephen J. Cannell, Clint Culpepper, Bob Greenblatt, David Janollari, Barry Josephson, Jordan Kerner, Aaron Spelling and many more. DMP has written TV pilots for ABC, CBS, FOX, FOX 21 and UPN. His recent films include “Death Race: Beyond Anarchy” starring Zach McGowan, Danny Glover and Danny Trejo and won the Best Stunts award at the 2018 International Motor Film Awards; “Jarhead: Law of Return” starring Amaury Nolasco, Devon Sawa, Ben Cross, Yael Eitan and Robert Patrick screened at the Haifa International Film Festival; and his monster party “Tremors: Shrieker Island” starring Michael Gross, Jon Heder, Richard Brake and Jackie Cruz streamed to the #3 spot on the Netflix Top 10 list in October of 2020 and was an Amazon #1 DVD New Release in Horror and Action Genre. DMP is busy working on the next “Death Race” installment for NBCUniversal and is excited about bringing it to life soon.

A Southern California native, Don calls Santa Monica home for the past eleven years. He is always in search of capturing that “one big idea” and has an eye out for original screenplays with a distinct, singular vision.
