Best powah power source?

So I'm level 50 and I have a refined storage system almost finished and connected to a starter reactor, its very fast and nice although I do not have much uraninite. I can see there are furnators, thermal generators, solar panels etc. Which one of these would be cheap on resources(so basically not uraninite) and power a controller and future items sufficiently?

Thermo Generator is the best to get started. The consumable it uses is water, so as long as you have some way to pipe it in you're golden.

Protip: if you use a block of blazing crystal as the heat source, it'll operate at 280% efficiency.

I’ve been thinking about that yeah so will the basic one power the refined storage system fine? What about later on when I need a lot of power like for mekanism? Thanks!

For RS, it should but it completely depends on how big your RS system is. If you right-click on the controller, it'll tell you how much FE/tick it uses. You can look at the Powah guide or JEI to see which tier generator you need for that consumption.

For Mek, kind of same thing applies (how many things you running at once and with which upgrades) - but the nice thing about the thermo gens is that they scale horizontally REALLY well and water is renewable and free.

Yeah my system isn’t too big so it should be fine for now. For the generator, do I just need 1 water bucket or how do I connect it to the thermo generator?

That completely depends on what other mods you have access to. You can either manually bucket water in or use any pipes that you might have access to.

When I first set mine up all I had was Modular Routers and I used a fluid module pulling from an infinite source and pushing directly into the generator. I later upgraded to Mekanism and used a pump to pull from the water source and piped it in directly. Tons of ways to move liquids in the pack.

you can use a sink as an infinite water source and pipe it into the generator using a supplementaries faucet. easy peasy free energy

Yeah I agree with that. It’s pretty easy to pipe water into it too with your RS system. First you want 1 fluid drive in your drive array and they are quite cheap to make unlike the normal drives. Then make an infinitive water source and add a Destructor to the source and connect it to your RS system. Then use an exporter to export the water into your Thermal Generator, making sure you have it turned to fluid export and probably whitelist it to water export.

A kitchen sink works even better instead of an infinite water source in the future. You can get them from Mod boxes if you have the mid unlocked.

Powah with Faucet and a Sink so u have no water problems. Its only the Deko mods and Powah.
Setup

Oh thanks! That’ll be helpful

definitely sink+faucet+lava(upgradeable to blazing crystal when you can) you can connect 4 generators to 1 sink, with basic ones (tier 2, last that requires no energizing) that means 70×4=280fe/t with one sink. You can get the infinite water bucket from a trader core making this a lot cheaper.

The solar panels are good also just don’t go past hardened because it end up being a loss.

I started with solar panels but I think they're way too expensive compared to the thermo generator. Not really with the effort
