To members who know this:

Can you help to list down all the ticket codes, referencing to class, type (saver, flex, etc) and restrictions?

I believe this will help many who are unsure of the new coding system.

Actually the FAQ does not answer specifically the question of ticket class. For example L, U, W, Y, etc. tickets.

For each specific ticket type such as Special, Saver, Flex and Flex Plus, a group of ticket codes are assign to each.

That's what some will find confusing, and no it's not in the FAQs.

I assume, it is because of two things not in the FAQ's: EK does not want that you do know the booking class beforehand. You should choose between Flex Flex Plus etc.
Secondly, the same booking class on a different routing can be another fare typ, i.e sometimes a C class (the booking class C) is a Flex Plus, on other routing it is only a Flex

Hi Kuroko,

I was actually thinking about this the other day... Now that EK has moved the Product type within each individual RBD, doesn't this make all RBDs eligible for each product class? I'm not up to speed on the EK RBD nomenclature, but surely if they've moved to fare families, each family is pegged to the selling RBD. This is differs from the previous set up where 4 top four classes were Flex and the rest (6?) where Saver classes.

My point is, now, with this set up, knowing what RBD is irrelevant, you can still avail of a Flex Plus fare even on the cheapest RBD - this wasn't possible in the past (although of course still at a premium over the saver/special)

Or is my thoughts wrong in that they only file Flex and/or Flex Plus in the higher buckets?

It it more or less the same structure i.e in Y:
X/V = Special
T/Q/L = Saver
U/B/M/W = Flex
R/E/Y = Flex Plus

For some routings they are a little bit "flexible" with the fare type/booking class, i.e an O class can be a Special or a Saver.

I guess since the new fare branding the idea is to get away from the booking classes and just booked the fare type (actually it doesn't make a difference for the regular customer if he books an U oder a W class as both are Flex and have the same conditions)

So then would I be right in thinking you would never find an X/V classed farebasis with a flex/flex plus character in the fare basis?

They seem to be restricting themselves quite a lot... Simpler to manage of course, but using lesser price points.

Fare basis is not everything. For each fare basis there can be thousands of actual fares.

But I can see the problem occurring when your ticket is booked by agent or company. When prices are not indicated when asked to choose preferred flight, the code is the only way to know if the ticket is flex, saver, etc.

I understand the different fare codes. I've booked a flight and I just wanna know what fare code I've been booked into. It was a cheap special fare booked directly on the EK site, I THINK it booked into X, but I can't exactly remember why. I've got the receipt and nothing that sticks out to me as the booking class. I know most people don't care about this stuff, but I can't figure out why they bury it.

I've gone into the manage my booking area and can't figure it out there either. Can anyone shed some light? To throw a wrench into things I've also got a codeshare flight on FlyDubai that I'd like to figure out if I'll be earning miles on as well.

Special fares book into X (assuming you're in Y), it's the 4th or 5th letter of the fare basis, if you post the fare construction at the bottom of the e-ticket here we can help (can also look up the fare on ExpertFlyer which shows the fare bucket).

I've got an EF subscription, but I'm not sure how I'd be able to use that to see this. Also the fare is now gone on the EK site so it can't be replicated. Since I've never had an EK ticket before I'm ASSUMING this is gonna be all you need...

So, I can't tell...it says SEA EK X/ so I'm thinking it's X class (and yes it's economy) but then I see XXLFRUS? If it's S class I don't want it cuz that'll mean I'll earn 0 miles to Alaska and I don't have a skymiles account or whatever the EK one is called. But I'd need to cancel tonight to be able to get out of it I think to meet a sub 24 hour cancellation window. If it'll earn 50% to AS I want it, but if its 0% no, even if it's somehow 25% I'm cool, like if it's 50% one way and 0% the other. Also the site didn't mention it'll earn 0 miles, in fact it said something like "you'll earn 2000 skymiles" or whatever for this. I know they're not responsible for earning on other programs, but at least in some other experiences I've had like EVA they'll just say "Earns 0%" so you can see in advance.

The other thing that led me to believe this would be X is that TFD was showing the other 2 destinations on sale, Yerevan and Algiers and both of those booked into X, this destination was the third of three on sale, but never showed up on the TFD website, but I thought a fair assumption was it'd book into the same class being part of the same sale.

Go to Fare Lookup or whatever it's called on EF, out in the routings and dates and uncheck validate fares (put in EK and as much info as possible) then in the list of fares find the one matching your fare construction, something like the XXLFRUS, and it'll show the fare bucket in the same row.

EK has no way of knowing that you'll credit to a partner, not how the partner awards miles, they tell you how many miles they award in Skywards. AS has complete autonomy on their mile awards for partner fares. EK doesnt have any paid fares that earn 0 on Skywards.
