Spring Hill, Kansas - Jim Hickman, 83, of Spring Hill, KS passed away April 25, with his family by his side. Jim worked for Contractors Supply / Hertz Equipment in Kansas City and Olathe for 32 years. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeanne Hickman, sons Matt Hickman (Jodi) of Stilwell, KS and Mark Hickman of Lenexa, KS and daughter Melisa Hickman of Olathe, KS. A visitation will be held from 2-3pm on May 11th at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with a memorial service following at 3:00 pm. For more information, please visit www.PenwellGabelKC.com

I worked with Jim several years and he had a wonderful personality. He was
always so kind and I never saw him get upset. He was always a gentleman.

I'm so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. The Hickman's were wonderful backdoor neighbors in Overland Park for a lot of years. First to my mom, Marge Glinka, then to my husband and I after we moved in. I think Mom was inspired to have a garden because of Jim's. She said many times she planted close to the fence so some of his green thumb magic would come over to her side. Mom passed in 2019, Jim will be a wonderful neighbor to have again in heaven.
A long life well lived is never long enough.
