92% Tomatometer 288 Reviews 83% Audience Score 1,000+ Ratings Based on the debut novel of the same name by writer Gillian Flynn ("Gone Girl"), the eight-episode series "Sharp Objects" stars Amy Adams, in her first major role on the small screen, as reporter Camille Preaker, who returns to her small hometown to investigate mysterious, unsolved crimes. Two girls are missing, one of whom was found dead and presumed murdered. As she searches for clues, Camille reunites with her estranged family -- overbearing mother Adora, stepfather Alan Crellin, and half sister Amma -- which rekindles traumatic childhood memories, including the death of her younger sister. Piecing together a psychological puzzle from her past, Camille begins to identify with the young victims a bit too closely. Read More Read Less Watch on Fandango at Home Buy Now

A nearly unbearable slow burn, Sharp Objects maintains its grip with an unshakably grim atmosphere and an outstanding cast led by a superb Amy Adams.

Eric Deggans NPR We don't see female anti-heroes like Camille on TV very often, a woman whose trauma and bad choices are written on her body in ways you will remember long after the show's final credits have rolled. Nov 25, 2019 Full Review Lauren Carroll Harris Guardian Misogyny and trauma are the focus and the feeling of Sharp Objects, but the story is so empathetic to women's perspectives that it never feels exploitative. A deeply immersive, feminist take on TV crime. Jul 24, 2019 Full Review Helen Holmes Observer Sharp Objects is part and parcel of the streaming era, not an outlier. Put another way, don't take my word for it that the show is fantastic. Christian C Amy Adams put on a performance as beautiful as that in Arrival. The whole cast was stellar. Can't believe I had never watched this until now. I get why people would find it dragging and other issues such as the self harm on Amy's character but I dunno, I just felt it and was gripped by it. Maybe not on the level of True Detective season 1, as far as miniseries' go, but its definitely up there. I get why the last scenes were put after the credits but it should have been done after a few seconds of the credits rolling, not a minute. Loved it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/22/24 Full Review William R SLOW, SLOW, SLOW, DRINKING, DRINKING, DRINKING! Could have been done in three episodes if they didn't have all the little side stories going on which meant nothing to the plot! I don't know why so many people rated it so high that it was one of the most drawn out mysteries I've ever watched. Very boring at times! It could have been so much more! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/28/24 Full Review Audience Member A great series with good performances throughout and a very good ending. A great mystery that may be slow, but worth diving into. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Audience Member The first seven episodes were amazing and if the final had been executed better this would have been an easy 5/5 for sure. For a slow paced show the ending felt very last minute and rushed. To get the full picture you need to watch into the credits, which most people don’t. The twist was good in itself but done terribly, felt like a slap in the face after watching such a well thought out story. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/12/24 Full Review Ray E Great series! Highly recommend if your in the mood for a good murder mystery. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/24 Full Review Brian W A breath of fresh air after suffering through True Detective season 2. Phenomenal cast and acting all around. Could not stop watching till the end.Made a guess early on who the killer was but still 🔥 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/24 Full Review Read all reviews
