Lots Of Love was the solo release by Roy on his own imprint from the 1980s, Uno Melodic Records. This one is notable for the ongoing influence of Fela Anikulapo; notably on the track, Black Family. Also emerging as a significant contributor to Roy's early 80s output is the multi-instrumentalist, William Allen. He was a presence on Roy's albums at least as far back as the Polydor_Ubiquity series of albums. Mr. Allen also provides the rap on Black Family, Drive, and Chicago. This album is significant for pulling in a number of veteran studio musicians; Carla Vaughn, Harold Land Jr., Jorge Dalto, Lesette Wilson, and Omar Hakim. The track that received airplay on early smooth jazz radio was an anthem about my hometown, DC City. Although it continues the ethnocentric ideology from Africa Center Of The World, Lots Of Love is diverse enough that it has a tune for any moment. Imho, this remains one of Roy's most musical and interesting albums. It's difficult to name a favorite tune. But in an mp3 or cd player, I'd hit repeat on And Then We Were One, Drive, DC City, and Chicago. I thought at one point that the album went out of print. However a British distributor, Charly Records subsequently reissued it using the original cover and imprint art! (God bless 'em!) Out of five stars the album rates all five stars! referencing Lots Of Love (LP, Album, Stereo) UM-8002
