Venice Senior High School Reviews
Rating 3.68 out of 5 502 reviews
My overall experience at Venice Senior High School has been one of great complexity. While I do consider myself a model student, I can say with some certainty that most students don't have the idea of being a model student ever cross their minds. While I abstain from any and all drugs and alcohol, most of the students at this school are rude and abuse drugs at an alarming rate. The faculty are extremely rude to students and parents. The cleanliness of the school is a three out of five stars at most. While there are many outstanding teachers at the school I believe that the standards for the students aren't being held up by the teachers and faculty. The sports are ok and the extra curriculars are one of the few positives. The free use of slurs by students in front of faculty without any consequences is alarming. There needs to be more screening with the hiring of all positions in direct contact with the students. Overall I would give the school a 6 out of 10 stars on the generous side.
I switched out of Venice High School unknowing of what I would be getting myself into. The school culture was amazing and I immediately felt accepted even though I switched mid-semester. I've been given so many opportunities, from being able to take high-level AP courses to singing with the choir at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Downtown LA! The weather is great. I love this school, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
As a transfer student, I felt extremely welcomed even as a nervous and frightened mess on my first day. The teachers are involved and supportive and there's various support resources available online and on campus. The surrounding area is safe and there's always security personal nearby in case of emergencies so I've never felt unsafe once during my two years here. My favorite thing about my campus though is the size, it's much larger than the average high school which gives me a lot of different places to hang out. My least favorite part of the school though has to be the lack of open bathrooms, with two open for each generation at a time all day and one all gender open.
